Loved having the bar so close to the accomodation!

Loved having the bar so close to the accomodation! Very friendly west coast bar. Bar manager/owner was very helpful and friendly. Bed was so comfortable and room clean. Breakfast was help yourself from a big range of options - plenty of choice. Location is 10km north of Greymouth in a mining town with working coal mines around. Great beach 3k up the road with a mining machine displayed. Great sunsets too. Pub pizza and meals available.

Well it rained cats and dogs for much of the time we were in Runanga. But the windows of opportunity without the rain were magic. We never knew there was a back way from Runanga to Donnolie until our last day. A beautiful historic place.

We only stayed at Runanga because it was a convenient place to get to rest of the coast. We liked the idea of staying in an old pub and meeting locals which we did and learnt a lot about the History of the area. There were some walks you could go on but we didn't do them as our time was limited. Runanga is a small place only houses with a dairy and wee antique shop.On the main Road there is another dairy takeaway shop.Greymouth is only around 7km away.A few years ago the coal mine closed one of the locals told us and Runanga is a lot quieter as he said the Hotel we stayed in really rocked and was full on.

Easy to find. Warm and comfortable.

Easy to find. Warm and comfortable. The locals are always welcoming and Ross and Lynette were awesome from the moment we arrived. Great location for day trips to see some of the amazing scenery or bush walks in the area. Bonus continental breakfast was everything you need to get the day started. Beach a short drive away and you can hear the waves at night.
