Coastal Gem, hotel in Port Waikato

Set just 700 metres from Sunset Beach, Coastal Gem offers accommodation in Port Waikato with access to a garden, a tennis court, as well as bicycle parking.

I felt spoilt throughout! The whole place is spacious and bright, lovingly decorated and detailed, everything, including all the care products, towels and linen of high quality - I have never stayed at a place before that offered all this! I much appreciated the chocolates and the wine, too - thank you so much! How good that I could stay for almost 24 hours, and therefore fully enjoy the quiet, luxurious place and the bath! Another awesome fact is the easy and short access to the beach.

I really don't want to book a "standard unit" look at the pictures they advertise and think I have a romantic getaway then end up in half a 20ft container. Limited facilities. This camp ground might have been okay in the 1950's. It is well below standard now! You can't tell me I am in a bungalow then expect a 10ft container to be okay. Our stay here was awful. I will go back to Port Waikato but I won't go back here! $156 for two nights of hell!

Almost no facilities in the village.

Almost no facilities in the village. If you require supplies such as main meal food beer wine or for that matter any alcohol they are not available within a 45 minute drive. We had to waste 2 hours going back to civilization to obtain decent food. The local store is VERY small and doesen't seem to care.
