We were looking for a place to stay for a couple of nights whilst down to see Warbirds over Wanaka. Otemetata's Best Dam Pub was a great place to stop as it had everything we needed, and the price point compared to Wanaka's accommodation was excellent.

The apartment was very clean and had everything that we needed. The pub was brilliant and had exceptional food and a great atmosphere. Previous negative reviews of the apartments were completely unfounded. Sofa bed was lumpy with springs sticking out and needs replacing, otherwise no complaints. Would stay there again.

A short stay for us as we were just passing through. Nice easy drive from the hot tubs at Omarama. We had read the reviews about the on site pub and had planned to eat there. But our plans changed and we ate before we arrived so a bit sad we didn't get to experience the great food on offer. Maybe next time!

Well, it's a town built for workers building a hydro dam probably 50 years ago. Now we believe many homes are used as vacation houses as the area has access to several beautiful lakes. Being winter, it was a stopping over place on our travels through rural South Canterbury.

The available apartment was not what was offered and booked.

The available apartment was not what was offered and booked. Instead of two beds and two bedrooms, they only provided one bed in one room. Our second person had sleep on a converted sofa and this took up most of the kitchen/lounge room.

Great location for day trips to Mt Cook and Lake Tekapo.

Great location for day trips to Mt Cook and Lake Tekapo. The town of Otematata is not much and the accommodation was poor. The highlight for us was the amazing little café caravan on the outskirt of the village heading towards Mt Cook. This café is a knockout - don't miss it!

It is very easy to get around Otematata.

It is very easy to get around Otematata. The restaurant is just right in front of the apartment. Grocery store and food store just across the state highway. Good place for all outdoor activities and there is one 18 holes golf course.
