We were travelling through Moeraki as part of a long road trip of the South Island, and this cute tiny stay appeared in the search. It's in a great location, has everything one would need, and best of all - there are two highland cows in a paddock right behind it. For some reason these became my favourite things on the NZ trip.

A very friendly, welcoming young lady greeted me on arrival. The room was lovely, large, and very clean. Comfortable bed.
Loved the location - it was in a very tranquil setting. May not suit everyone as you need transport to drive to restaurants and shops. I stocked up in Oamaru before my stay. A very restful place to chill out. Take some reading material with you. TV reception?

It was not far from Oamaru CBD, yet it’s out in the country, quiet and surrounded by nature

Four square store well stocked, and easy to get around.
Hampden pub was nice to eat and relax for the whole family. They have games for kids to play, pingpong, table tennis and fus ball.
Will go back some day.

We needed a motel close to the Moeraki Boulders which we found at Hampden. . Very pleased with the motel room. Hostess was friendly and helpful. Even put some of our frozens in her big freezer. Would definitely stay there again. We were going to walk down the beach to the boulders but the weather was very cold so went down in the car (5mn drive then walked on the beach to see them).
