We didn't have the breakfast option. It was enjoyable staying but we left early because of the dire weather forecast. The owner was very understanding.

Excellent location. Very adequate for my needs. Perfect place for West Coast location.
Some really good coastal walks set up by DOC. Some great board walks and coastal walks of various lengths. Peaceful area with most tourists not taking advantage of the walks and stopping in car parks for a quick look only. Warning: don't go off road near beachs. We towed someone out of the sand!

Haast is a definite stop and you must visit Jackson's Bay. Although itis a long way from Haast its a lovely drive and an interesting place when you get there. Make sure you take insect repellant as it is a MUST.
We ate at the hotel restaurant. Good selection of mains.
Lots of walks.

Haast requires some commitment to not just blast through to Wanaka or the glaciers. The visitors centre and the boardwalk (on way to Jackson Bay) are both worth an hour of your time. Plus all the points on the map just before and after Knights Point, Ship creek walks x2, waterfalls. An overnight stay is recommended to have two brilliant travel days.
Take snacks and a flask though, it's remote and you may not find something open when you are hungry. And sandfly repellent, and long clothes!

We only stayed in Haast for 2 nights as a stopover between Queenstown and Franz Josef. Although there is not a lot to do apart from various walks and some fishing we did do a day trip down to Jackson Bay. A lovely little village on the edge of the ocean and they have a great seafood restaurant.

Jackson's Bay was probably beautiful in the sun, it was pouring down whilst we were there!! There is nothing to see at Haast- The beach isOK but there are the awful black bitingfies in their droves, other than that it is just a place to break a journey if necessary.

Haast is a nice remote location close to the seashore and national park. When travelling there are the facilities that you would need, but limited in choices. There is a Pub and Cafe where you can eat, but beware of their hours of operation. Wifi and cell service seeks to be restrictive in the region should you be needing it.
Haast is a small town and the motel is located on the outskirts to town, a few minutes drive into the centre. Check-in was straightforward. The unit had a undercover car-parking
the room was basic but clean and comfortable, cooking facilities were adequate
My stay was for 1 night only as a pass through place on an Island tour
staff were very helpful and immediately responded to any concerns
The motel is an ideal place to break your journey between the fjord lands and the glaciers. The room was a good size and spotless with good facilities. Susie was particularly friendly and helpful and made our stay comfortable. Good food and drinks at the nearby Hard Antler pub/ restaurant if you wish to eat out
A nice comfy motel stop before heading to Jackson bay. This is a very remote location in the country so we were amazed with finding such a nice motel. Really comfy beds, amazing shower and above all, all the wilderness one could hope for.
Was upgraded to a queen bedroom by pleasant staff at this backpackers and motel. The bed was comfortable for a quiet night's stay. Quirky internal garden common area. Grocery takeaway behind the facilities. Good parking available.
Host friendly, knowledgeable and happy.
Bed very comfortable and good pillow selection. Shop and Cafe next door. Easy access to units and parking close.
Motel situated central to the areas walks and attractions.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Heartland Hotel Haast. Easy check in, clean and tidy rooms and Haast beach a 2 min drive down the road. The whitebait fritter from the restaurant was perfection!!!
Everything. It was so peaceful and quiet. There’s a beautiful room where it’s so easy to loose track of time relaxing in there surrounded by plants. Best backpackers I’ve ever stayed at.
Haast is an absolutely beautiful part of New Zealand and the location of the hotel suited us really well.
The hotel was fine, pretty basic but comfortable. The shower was great.
One night stay everything that we wanted was there, very friendly service. Much better value for money than a lot more “name” hotels and motels that we have stayed at.
