Auckland is a real cultural mix with strong Asian, European, Maori and Polynesian influences, celebrated in frequent festivals and sporting events. We were in Auckland for our daughter's Master's Graduation Ceremony so didn't really explore Auckland too much on this visit.
However the harbour area is pleasant for a walk and the new Commercial Bay Shopping Centre is of a very high standard and looks really impressive. There are many eateries in there, in addition to many high end shops.

Travel from airport is awful.
Travel from airport is awful. It has never been brilliant but is certainly much worse. Taxi drivers were just not interested in taking us to Pakuranga. This is 3rd world level.
Down town Auckland is slowly getting back on its feet. It should develop it uniqueness.

Make the effort and walk down to the Viaduct area..this place is pumping...loads of choices for food and drink..you can sit and people watch, admire the beautiful yachts, enjoy the friendly atmosphere...awesome buzzy vibe. If you don't feel like walking back to your hotel? there are plenty of taxis around....another tip, if you aren't going far, ask the taxi driver to take you back to your hotel for XXXX (whatever you feel like offering)..most of them will probably happily oblige to have some fare is better than no fare! There are so many road works in Auckland that paying full fare by taxis can be expensive, always try and barter the price before you get in.

Absolutely beautiful city, terrain, food selection and BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE. Downtown Auckland may be hard to travel for persons with mobility issues due to steep and hilly terrain. You can still see a lot of the land marks, have a car service drop u off directly in front. If you want to see the majesty of the land, get out of the city and canvas the surrounding countrysides or hop on the ferry. I’ll be back to connect how city busses and other transportation/ferry can connect you to other places. Definitely bringing my family back. Something for everyone. Definitely want to see Rotorua and different foods. I loved everything about this place and as a solo traveler, I felt safe.

I'm not normally much of a city guy, but Aukland was a really great place to explore. It had that feel of a city that didn't know it's a city. Not a huge amount of chains and a lot more smaller businesses. Having said that if you want some serious shopping there were plenty of the bigger boutiques too. The touristy stuff was actually really good and not too expensive, things like the Skytower and the ferries to the other islands.
Friendly, accommodating staff. Terrific location with access to all the cafes, places of interest in the local community. Great dining at the hotel restaurant with loads of atmosphere. Wonderful view over the water and so close to the ferry to Auckland city. Easy to watch the world go by or check out the local area. Great museum, walks up Mt Victoria with spectacular views, funky local cafes and chocolate shop on Lia fab bookstore. The library is a testament to beautiful design and creating creative spaces.
It was super clean, modern and spacious. The bed was really comfy and had a sliding privacy/dividing door which was handy. Apart from check in issues, everything else was great. The offer for private airport transfers was useful and the driver was very polite and helpful. Very big bathroom as well which was easy to share with another person. Amazing location in regards to Sky Tower and the viaduct as well as the CBD. Good value for money overall especially in such an expensive city.
This was the night of the Auckland flood when we were bumped from a flight and then had another hotel give away a room that we had booked. We were very grateful to be able to get a room at the Holiday Inn that would accommodate 3 adults. The hotel was very clean and had very comfortable beds. Big windows in the room looked out over the city - a great view. It was surprisingly quiet. The breakfast that was included in the tariff was ample and had a good selection.
M Social is perfectly located in Auckland’s CBD. It is very easy to walk around the downtown area. The hotel is located almost across the street from the main ferry terminal so it is very easy to travel to other parts of Auckland and surrounding areas. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and clean. each room has a view of the Auckland harbour. There are many great restaurants within easy walking distance of M Social.
We stayed in the Ambassador Suite. It was very spacious, with a large lounge, dining table, small kitchen, comfy king bed and a large bathroom. The unit was clean and overlooked a swimming pool and had views over a lagoon. The property is located 25 minutes drive from the airport, but with easy access to Auckland CBD. Sylvia Park Mall is 15 minutes walk away. The staff were friendly and helpful and responded promptly and effectively to our requests.
The price was great for a major city hotel, particularly one near the airport. The room was modern, clean, comfortable and had a nice hot shower. The beds were comfortable and the staff were helpful. Your not paying for a penthouse so don't expect the floor space of one but it was a perfect way to start and finish our NZ holiday. There is a bistro downstairs and a cheap regular shuttle bus that runs to and from the airport.
I stayed here 3 or 4 times for a couple of days over 10 weeks in New Zealand. close to bus stop for inter city bus and airport bus. Great value as location is excellent. The lower (cheaper) one bedroom floors are not so great - on 2/F there is quite a bit of street noise, but upper floors with a suite type - bedroom and kitchen/living room woith balcony are excellent and still good valiue
Plenty of free parking, which was a huge stress relief. Our room was comfortable, we had a great view, and all the facilities we may need. We also enjoyed the location of the Hotel, as it was out of the hustle and bustle of the city, but only minutes away from anything the CBD has to offer. A very easy commute to Spark Arena as well, just a few minutes drive. Value for money.
My mother in law wanted a get away from home with 3 of her grandkids. They enjoy the beauty of Beauty of Rose Park especially when the staff kindly treated them equally.
My family loves to stay locally and they wanted to cover every side of Auckland city from motels to Hotels. .
I will recommend Rose Park as my 9 yearnold is always the person who rate all places we have been.
This was the perfect hotel for an overnight after our international flight. Very clean, easy to get to from the airport and the restaurant/bar was very good. We were able to get well rested before beginning our travels in New Zealand. The staff were all very kind and went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and happy. Thank you
Luxury hotel with big comfy room that is well decorated and laid out. Solid balcony that came with room and very nice restaurant (we had breakfast). Stayed at another Auckland hotel during our stay in New Zealand and this one was way better. Also very good location and proximity to main city area.
The facilities and quality are alost all to a very acceptable standard. The location is perfect for any business or activity in or near the CBD. Good breakfast included is convenient and a good reason to select this hotel. The availability of the SkyCity bus from the airport is an added bonus.
It is clean and interior looks new. Near to restaurants, some shops (mostly selling Indian clothings) and a shopping mall with Countdown, Kmart available. Free parking. About 10-15 minutes drive to CBD, Harbour Viaduct, airport and nearby cities or suburbs like Manukau, Sylvia Park etc.
What's not to like? Great view, free parking, convenient quiet location, clean spacious rooms, friendly staff and all for a much better price than other hotels in the Auckland cbd. Oh and the restaurant has a good selection of meals at reasonable prices.
I really loved the service - getting picked up by the hotel and dropped off at the Auckland International Airport was a great bonus and being able to park our vehicle somewhere secure for free for the week. Top notch staff and real close to airport.
They were very responsive and very accomodating of my request for late check in. The hotel is modern, clean , well appointed, lots of amenities in the room, quiet, close to the airport and to airport parking: in short, perfect.
Convenient location near the airport. McDonalds three doors down made getting a quick breakfast convenient before hitting the road. We stayed in the large two bedroom unit. Clean and simple. Parking is easy and secure.
The location is excellent for the airport . We have tried to stay in cheaper hotels near the airport but they have been unsatisfactory mainly due to the cleanliness and general all round standard.
Nice hotel in a prime location with great rooms, great bathrooms, good onsite food, and convenient valet parking (for a fee). It's a comfortable base for exploring Auckland.
