Given that this is one of the few hotel and dinner options in town (captive market), it was very expensive but still very enjoyable. the room was spacious and had a great view. the breakfast/dinner area was lovely and the food wonderful. There is also a lovely outdoor space which means you don’t need a balcony per se. Staff very friendly and helpful with info about nearby hikes.
Vangsgaarden Gjestgiveri is located in the oldest buildings in the village of Aurland. Situated on the shores of Aurlandsfjord, it offers wonderful views of the surrounding mountains.

The house was big, located 20-25 minutes walking from the city center and there was everything that was needed for an amazing stay. The beautiful views that we could see thorough the windows were amazing and breathtaking. The host was always there for us to help with any questions that we had.

Aurland was super pretty.
Aurland was super pretty. Definitely happy then we didn't stay at Flam, the view and town was amazing. There is a fun steep hike to take with a nice cottage along the way. Even though the weather was pretty rainy, we enjoy our stay with a cozy atmospheric mood.
Only difficulty was the bus ride from Flam to Aurland, because we weren't sure from where the bus is going and then it came late, so that was a bit stressful.
Also we definitely recommend the little Flam bakeri with delicious cinnamon buns!

Beautiful and loved staying here. Cute town and lots nearby. If you have a car it's so easy to drive between towns and various hiking spots. If you don't you can catch buses or the ferries to get to and from flam. I didn't find this hard in high season with the ferries but the buses were a bit confusing. They seem to run until 7 or so be careful not to miss it.
.there's a grocery store that's well equipped, a great bakery and pretty much all you need for a quiet stay.

I like nature and hiking, so here is perfect place for me. Walk to Brekkefossen, railway to Myrdal and back by bikes, Flam valley, Stegastein, ferry from Gudvangen to Flam and much much more… just go and have fun 😃

This place is a must-visit. It's quiet, but not too quiet—its what we Swedes would call "Lagom"
We originally traveled to Aurland because my fiancé and I felt very depressed. City life can do that to you. We wanted to feel closer to nature, and Aurland was perfect for that. It was very therapeutic to climb the mountains, go on the "fjord" safari on the water, and eat goat cheese pizza in Undredal. Our visit to Aurland made us fall in sync with nature again. The people living there were friendly(I think Norwegians overall are much friendlier than Swedes), and now we are honestly considering moving to Norway—that's how good the trip was. Excellent place!

Overall, the location is very close to Naerofjord, so you would expect beauty in every corner. We came by car so were more flexible to roam around from Gudvangen to Flam and Aurland. I would recommend kayaking either from Gudvangen or Flam. We basically try to travel on a budget so mostly used the kitchen in the facility. the road to Viewpoint is both tricky to drive and beautiful.
This was probably the most interesting place that we stayed on our trip to Sweden/Norway. It was really a mountain house located away from Flam and Aurland, pretty close to the Stegastein overlook. If you're traveling with a bunch of people or larger family this would be a great match since it sleeps a bunch - 4 BRs I think with kitchen and living room and TV. It's rural, as we needed to close the gate to keep the sheep out, but that added to the charm for us. This place worked out well and was fun for us to stay at.
The hotel is situated in the heart of small wonderful place Aurland ❤️ the thing we liked the most was the view, it was amazing, we lived on the 3rd floor facing fjord and mountains, something to dream about.
Hotel itself looks very nice with comfortable rooms and amenities, very tasty food in the restaurant and big breakfast. Hotel personnel was very kind and helpful. Definitely would like to be back there one day, totally worth it ☺️
This view of the fjords cannot be beat! We booked an oceanview room - best view I've ever had in a hotel room! There is also a communal deck that has the same view. The house is cute, quirky and charming. The hosts have just reopened it after remodeling and are eager to make your stay comfortable. Excellent value for the $, walkable to all of Flam's attractions. While you are there, use the floating saunas on the water.
Talk about amazing views! It literally sits right there on the fjord and the huge window in the living room gives views that are absolutely gorgeous. My 2 kids loved each having their own bedroom. I also loved the simple and short drive to Flam from here. The price is great too for such a wonderful location. Despite anything I wasn’t crazy about with the property, the pros certainly outweigh the cons!
Everything was 5 star...the amenities, the location, the exceptionally well appointed cottage. It was such a pleasure staying here and I would highly recommend it to families and large groups who would like to enjoy a non-touristy experience in Flam / Aurland. Walking distance to Aurland town which has a huge supermarket for everything you may need. Overall - 10 on 10
Breathtaking view of Sognefjord from our bedroom window at sunrise…. one time life experience. Best spot to start a fjord cruise, to reach Flamban or just drive to Stegastein view point, up on the mountain. You will find a SPAR store or a viking souvenir shop, 2 minutes driving , in Aurland downtown. We had everything we needed for a 2 nights stay.
Our room was large, beds were comfortable and the view of the fjord was amazing!!Customer service was particularly wonderful . I asked about a laundromat, and instead they allowed me to use a washer and dryer at the hotel free of charge! They're restaurant was excellent for dinner and breakfast was very good with lots of coices.

We arrived quite late around 8pm. and check in was still possible and easy.
There is a restaurant in Aurland which serves great food (it's a ten minute walk from the accomodation)

Wow...fantastic location and view from balcony of the Fjord and mountains.Property was large enough for a family of four, and easy parking right outside. Location excellent for nearby Aurland with shops etc and road network. Short trip up the mountain to Stegastein viewpoint which is fantastic.Wanted to stay longer!
These new apartments were lovely and the perfect place for our family of 5! We were close enough to enjoy Flam and Aurland, but away from the crowds of the cruise ships. The view is beautiful and the apartment was very well stocked. The host was great at responding and greeted us on arrival. Highly recommend!
Fantastic location on the water, in the lovely village of Aurland. We were happy to be away from the tourists in Flam with frankly a better view of the Fjords, and the convenience of activities right on the dock. The apartment was comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay.
Modern, clean and spacious apartment set in an idyllic spot, just a couple of minutes away from Aurlandsvangen. The apartment is fully furnished and has a balcony with beautiful view over the valley. The owner lives close by and we were able to check in fairly late in the evening. 100% recommended!
An excellent value for the money, I had the room all to myself, in fact the whole house. The beds were very comfy and everything was very clean. And the location was just as good, a view of Aurlandsfjord out the window.
Lovely spacious cabin with nice views next to the river in Aurland. A quiet well run site with helpful staff. Easy walk to the village and ferry quay. Bus stops for both directions right by the entrance to the site.
Clean rooms, nice host, great location. Walked to the Aurland overlooking point in the early morning, enjoyed the view of the fjord without sharing with others. It’s a great experience!
The hotel is in a good location near the water and next to the sightseeing cruise pier. The customer service response was timely and solved the problem immediately.
