My wife and I loved staying at La Bamboo Guesthouse - just our taste in Lonely Planet old- school backpackers accommodation.
The house was quite a maze and we had one of the rooms with terrace overlooking the river.
Had everything we could possibly need and Mala and her husband Vishnu couldn’t have been more helpful with simple breakfast to set us up for the day.
The beautiful Blue Bay is only 15 minutes away on local bus - well worth the rs30 bus fare just for the trip. Short walk to several supermarkets and bus terminal short walking distance.
With mountain views, Ferney Nature Lodge is set in Mahébourg and has a restaurant, a shared lounge, bar, garden, year-round outdoor pool and terrace.

Very friendly and helpfull staff, especially Ashvini and Luvish. They are really proffesionals. The valley around is a hidden gem, the view from the terrace and room is fabulous. Also the dinner exceed our expectation. I think it was the best accommodation I have ever stayed.

Mahebourg is the downtown of Mauritius, do not stay there unless you wanna sleep for a night so you can be closer to the airport because it is closer to the airport, otherwise the north side is the best for accommodation.

Mahebourg is not at all touristy.
Mahebourg is not at all touristy. You get A true taste of island life. The eateries are mainly visited by locals with the odd tourist. They're cheap & always delicious. I must recommend Chez Marilyn.
Blue Bay is a short drive from town & well worth a visit!
We stayed for 7 nights which was a few days too long, maybe 4 or 5 nights is enough.

Mahbourg is charming.
Mahbourg is charming. I like city sounds and working people so I found it to be quite charming. Nearby restaurants were delicious and friendly and affordable. Transit is available to most destinations. The Monday market was very interesting. The people were delightful. We loved our stay.

We visited the resort from the UK in March for my Wife's...
We visited the resort from the UK in March for my Wife's 30th Birthday Celebration and honeymoon holiday. Just before the Covid-19 lockdown we were there. All the staff were super friendly and even helped me get special birthday balloons for my Wifes birthday which they searched the whole island for!
Special thanks for Linda who was sooo soo caring in making sure we had a great time. Also thanks to all the other staff like Akshay and the rest who I cant remember all their names! My Wife was also surprised with dinner by the beach one evening which was lovely and romantic! She also enjoyed the Spa which was all complimentary as we were celebrating our marriage.
Overall we had a great time even though the weather was not always the best and one day we had to stay in the hotel but there was many things to keep us entertained and the evening entertainment especially on Independence day was fantastic and great fun. The food was great too and had a very nice room!
Thank you again all the great staff and would definitely recommend this resort to all!

Mahébourg is a nice place to stay only a few days or the visit the museum of history and the market, good places to eat also good supermarkets can be found. You can take to bus to almost every place on the Island. It's nearby the most beautifull places to snorkel around Pointe 'dEsny and Blue bay. Catamaran trips can be booked a Pointe Jerome. There's no beach at Mahébourg.
The location and property are great if you’re looking for somewhere close to Mahebourg, or the airport and it’s easy to explore the Blue Bay Area from there. Its a less touristy part of Mauritius compared to the North/West and well worth visiting. Connie and Peary were so friendly throughout; sharing recommendations on things to do, restaurants, supermarkets,buses etc. which really made it easy to explore the area.
Both my room and breakfast were good and exactly what I was expecting… hopefully I’ll be back staying again soon!
Rooms were spacious, we booked a sea view room which was on ground level, so not really sea view, however it was great because we could sit outside our room & have access to bar for drinks etc. Also at the last minute we requested an extension for the day only & although we could not stay in our room they provided another room. Staff at reception were marvellous went out of way to assist us. Very impressed by hotel security at gate & front of resort, friendly while also being diligent.
Right on the shore, great views over the indian ocean from the pool, or from the breakfast room (at the time of my booking all seaview rooms were already taken). Free parking within the yard. Breakfast is not included, but it worth the extra, expcially the wonderfull views from the breakfast room in the morning. Nice inerior design in the lobby. Mahebourg town center, market, waterfront all within about 10 mins walking. Close to the main road, but quite and calm!
They have a great location here and an opportunity for a nice little hotel. They also have friendly staff, we were served buy a lovely man and woman at breakfast.
There is a small beach right in front, great sunrise views and easy access walks along the beach to the main beaches but we thought our small one was fine.
Like others said there is good snorkeling, its windy but we didn't mind this.
Very close to airport, it was perfect to spend the last night there before flying back home. Host was really friendly and accommodating, giving us a tip for a good restaurant and letting us check in late and check out very early in the morning. Easy to find and there was parking space on the street in front of the hotel. Really good value for money!
Probably the kindest hosts I have met during my whole trip on Mauritius. They always tried to help me in a lot of ways (Airport-Transfer, Check-Out etc.).

It was a family friendly hotel. it was close to the supermarket and everyone was super friendly. The manager, Vinnie, helped us a lot. the rooms had all the essentials that you need.
Nice location near Mahébourg Waterfront. The room is fairly basic but well worth the price. There are some good restaurants nearby, especially Chez Marilyn.
