Despite being the capital it is not a city worth visiting.
Despite being the capital it is not a city worth visiting. You can visit all the "monuments" and "tourist sites" in Podgorica in 2 hours on foot. It is like living on the outskirts of Rome back in the 70s. English is not widely spoken especially if you plan to take busses to go to other tourist places like Budva or Bar. The staff at the stations and on those buses are pretty rude and they are not keen on helping tourists. I had to ask for the help of other travelers or locals. If I had to go back I would probably stay in Budva or other places near the coast. Podgorica is cheap but it is way too expensive considering what it has to offer.

The city is beautiful for its eclecticism. Very underrated by tourists. The city has many pleasant places to walk, wonderful cafes and restaurants, and street food. The nightlife is also very exciting. Living in the city is safe at any time of the day or night. Very beautiful people.

The city has so many ruins they do not even bother to label them or secure them. Saw many people just walking through while shopping or family outings. But no controls were needed as it seems everyone was respectful of the ruins.

Green and vibrant city, great parks, picturesque river and bridges, lots of cafes, some interesting monuments.
Not impressed by a culinary side though - didn’t find any tasty food in both cheaper and expensive places. Got the impression that the real reason to go to a restaurant is to socialize only.
Surely way too hot in summer, as the seaside is about 100 km away. I wish they had more fountains at least!
Next time will only eat at home and stay in in the middle of the day.

Small city with lots of trees that give everybody around allergies.
It's very surreal to have mountains all around the city - kinda like a skybox in an old game. The sights are wonderful, especially in the evening. I wish I had my drone there to fly over - it would be so much better than what I had, but drone laws are cruel there (airport security doesn't do very good job of checking if you stay in the back though).
There's not too much to do in the city itself but it's a nice location to have 1.5-3h bus rides to other cities - we especially enjoyed going to Kotor mountains, and going to a nudist beach at Bojana island was also an interesting experience.
There are some places with nice food - just look for the highest rated restaurants in the area. I particularly liked the steak at the "Steak House - Grill, Fish & Meat" place. Food delivery is average. Taxis don't take card payments most of the time, and calling for a taxi without knowing the language is a pain. Tesla app is kinda ok in that regard, but it's only working in Podgoritsa.
People don't know how to drive and how to park there so pedestrian roads are blocked with cars, and traffic lights are challenging if you can't walk fast.

Very pleasant town, with green space and parks, safe and relaxing for long walks, especially by the river, and no problems at all with motorbikes (as in Tirana) and stray dogs (as in Durres). Guidebooks that underrate Podgorica are wrong!
When we came to the bus station in Podgorica, the temperature was about 40 degrees, it was exuited to the hot, but the salvation was that the Hostel is 300 meters from the bus, otherwise we would melt away from the heat. When we arrived at the hostel, the owner has reached us kindly. We immediately walked into the cooled room and took a shower, so it was
Right relaxation. The room was a big and cyst. In the evening we went to the city (the owner untied - for free) to the city center and helped us find the best pub.
The front desk personnel Alexandria was very helpful. We emailed her that our flight from Frankfurt was delayed so we missed our connecting flight in Vienna. She replied almost immediately. And because we missed our flight due to Airline delays, we did not checked in at Hotel Alexandra Lux. We finally flew into Podgorica the next day updating the front desk of our journey. The driver was waiting for us at the arrival area. And the management did not charge us for the night we did not checked in. Thank you for this.
Perfect hotel. The staff were very professional and helpful, giving us all the information we needed before we asked. The rooms were big with comfy beds, our own WiFi, and an excellent bathroom. The buffet breakfast was large and varied. We sadly did not have time to use the spa, as we arrived late/departed early. Do make use of their airport taxi booking offer - and any other taxi bookings you need - you'll pay half of the metered charge (across Montenegro, pre-booking taxis is cheaper).
The location of the hotel was perfect for an early morning flight at the Podgorica airport. A 5 minute taxi ride...cost 5 Euro. We had a spacious room with a large balcony. The restaurant serves very good food in super large quantity. We ordered 2 meals and should have split one! Nice grounds..well kept up. Our interaction with the staff was very positive and we appreciated their assistance, both at Check in and check out.
The Hotel is excellent! The rooms are quit big and very clean. The breakfast place is awesome, you feel as if you are in a castle, a stony architecture with big tables and great atmosphere!! I will recommend it to all my friends and colleagues upon visiting Podgorica. Furthermore, its situate exactly 5-7 minutes from everywhere in the city, but at the same time is in a very nice and silent neighbourhood
Great location in the center of Podgorica, next to Independence square. The hotel has a parking lot,
Staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel public areas are very nicely decorated (stairs, corridors etc) - bright colours, artifacts, art, very well done.
Had a minibar fridge, a desk, an armchair and a chair. Wifi worked fine.
Breakfast was OK- fair selection of food.
Very nice and welcoming hosts. Neat and clean room - which was very spacious and comfy. Private car parking facility was also available. The host gave us free ride to their hotel and served us with dinner upon our arrival, and breakfast in the morning. We were new in Montenegro so the host guided us as well about main attraction and tourist spots. Highly recommended!
What a brilliant apartment in the centre of Podgorica. A real bonus that Marco picked us up from the airport for a reasonable price, seeing we were delayed and didn't get in until 22:45! His English was excellent, and he gave us lots of ideas about what to do, and where to eat. We had a great time in the neighbourhood bars - really rocking area!
The staff were very welcoming and helpful. It's a great place to stop off and explore Podgorica, handy to land transport connections and an easy drive from the airport also. Good value for money and secure off street parking available if you are driving. All Podgorica attractions are walkable from the hotel. Good breakfast spread provided.
We had a pleasant stay at this comfortable and stylish apartment in the city center of Podgorica. Cafés and shops are all around the area and also the main square is less than 5 minutes to walk. Marko was a great host, very welcoming and he even drove us to the airport by car for a little fee (since there is no public shuttle bus).
Overall, the stay in Hotel Fobra was pleasant. The surrounding neighbourhood is a residential area which is a bit underwhelming, but once you go around the block of apartments you understand that you are in the vicinity of the city centre, and a short walk away from some of the main squares and streets. The staff was friendly.
The place is well kept, it’s clean and relaxing with complete amenities that you will find in a hotel. And most importantly the place is near the Podgorica airport, a good place to stay when you have an early morning flight like me. The hosts were hospitable and friendly as well. Thank you again Olive Apartment.
Breakfast was delicious. The hotel is just in the heart of the city. Easy and affordable to reach from the airport. Hotel booked us a taxi which was on time and waiting for us although we had a delay. Easy to communicate with the reception through booking.com
The location of the hotel is good when you need to get to the Podgorica Airport quickly. There are also sights nearby, especially "Niagara Falls". The breakfast was very good. The room was spacious with a great view.
The hotel is located in the gas station, the room and the corridor can smell very heavy gasoline, about 10 minutes drive from the center of Podgorica, there is a supermarket Voli nearby. About a few minutes' walk
Not your usual airport hotel. Ok - Podgorica airport not the world’s busiest but still - the hotel is quiet and has a nice garden surrounding it. Good choice of television channels
Breakfast a la carte
We used this hotel as a hub to get to Budva and Podgorica airport. The staff were great, we left headphones in the prebooked taxi we organised with them and they were kindly returned back to us.
