We did not have time to explore the town at all, but overall seemed like a beautiful place by the lake. Would highly recommend because I think this place is less mobbed by tourists that Fujikawaguchiko.

It was a nice place to stop for a few days before heading back to Tokyo. Great places to eat and beautiful walks around the lake. There is a bathhouse not to far from the hotel but they do not allow tattoos- no exceptions.

This is a beautiful area full of nature and amazing views.

This is a beautiful area full of nature and amazing views. I went in October so out of the main season and it was nice and quiet with not many visitors around. Renting a Swan boat and feeding the ducks was great fun! I couldn't find a single vegetarian restaurant in town so something to be aware of if you don't eat meat or fish. Just be aware of the army base from which you can hear artillery fire every day. It's loud and a little disconcerting! I think Yamanakako is less touristy than Kawaguchiko which for me is a good thing.

It's a great area if you like outdoorsy activities.

It's a great area if you like outdoorsy activities. There's several hiking trails around the Lake, which are well marked and reward you with an awesome view of Fujisan when you get to the destination. The trails up to Mt Takazasu and Mt Myojin are good and take in the Panorama-Dei spot which is popolar for viewing Fujisan. All-day parking is available at Yamanakako Community Plaza Kirara, and the trailheads are 20-30min walk away from there. There is also a very nice 15km cycling path around the Lake, which is a very long but pleasant walk. If you're not outdoorsy, then the options are more limited to the nice restaurants, and there are high end and nice lower-priced options (Denny's, Cafe Gusto). There are also various onsen and sento in the town.

Pros - Mt Fuji is a glory to see so close up and the clouds and the skyline around the mountain were in a constant dance of change - breathtaking. The reflections of the sunset clouds on the lake were were dazzling. The freshness of the pristine air. The lack of high humidity. The sense of well-being offered by the area. The vehicles stopped at zebra crossings which isn't always the case in certain cities. Cons - At times we have to walk on the road within half a metre of passing vehicles. That could have possible unwanted outcomes.

    Yamanashi in general was gorgeous.

Yamanashi in general was gorgeous. We stayed at Yamanakako and it was a great place to stay at to get away from the stressful work environment in the city. We didn't get to eat at any local restaurants since we were too busy exploring the surrounding areas but you won't be left wanting for food options since everywhere you go, there's a restaurant nearby and they all looked so good. I think it would be more convenient if you travel around by car since the bus fare can get a little expensive if you're traveling far.

I was able to make a special order for a gluten-free breakfast with an extra ¥200 fee which was great! The coffee for my husband was exceptional and deliciously made, you can tell the host is a professional! We played ping-pong, relaxed while watching a movie in the living-room area and also took a great ofuro. We were also able to borrow a couple of bikes and go around the beautiful lake of Yamanakako. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice getaway place

Very good view, You can see Mt.Fuji from the room’s window and from the lobby. I have had delicious breakfast with Mt.Fuji view, so good ♥️ The room isn’t so big size, but it’s okay for 3-4 persons with good view for this price, It’s valuable for the money. I has a good experience to take the onsen bath. The good location , easy to go anywhere attraction. The hosts is so nice and helpful with service mind 🥰

Spacious villa with amazing location and view (looking out over the lake at Mt Fuji, with easy access to the lake trail right across the street) - it was so easy to get up for sunrise photos. There was a fully stocked kitchen for cooking, nice bathtub overlooking the lake, TV with Netflix and other streaming services, easy checkin/checkout, and bikes available to borrow.

The thermal baths were fantastic. Breakfast and dinner were traditional Japanese cuisine, which I appreciated experiencing as an American. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The location was excellent - the bus stop is right in front of the hotel. We got a clear view of Mt. Fuji on the second morning from our balcony!

The best view of Mt Fuji and the lake, and a huge room with TV and balcony! It was absolutely lovely staying at this hotel and the owners were very kind. Be prepared for mosquitos at night if you open the window, so don't do it. When I come back to Japan I will stay at this place again with my family. I loved my stay here.

A warm and welcoming place wonderfully located at the base of Mount Fuji. Lake Yamanakako is right at your doorstep. It has an indoor onsen which is shared but you can peacefully enjoy because you get your own time slot. The staff are a very friendly couple who are super helpful! Breakfast is optional but definitely recommended!

The location is great. It’s a short 5-7 minute walk to a beautiful view of Yamanakako, and there’s a bus station there as well. The onsen is small, but the size is ok based on the number of guests at the hotel — I used the bath both nights and only saw one other person. The price is excellent.

Amazing location and loved the cabin. Everything felt clean, modern and comfortable (especially the bed, we didn't sleep on the loft on the tatami though). Our cabin had a fantastic view of Mt Fuji which was amazing in the morning! Amenities etc were plenty and useful. Appreciated the stay!

The property is on a hilltop overlooking the lake with Mt. Fuji in the near distance, so the views are spectacular. The outdoor onsen is also simple but excellent for relaxing and views. The French Restaurant was outstanding with great service, tasty dishes, and an excellent wine list.
