If you know Yakushima, and you have no question, just book and come, please don't consider my comment. My words only concern the email exchange I got with the owner, not the house itself.

The Room was great with a great view. It was very clean and spacious. The fridge was also bigger than in most accomodations. Awesome place! Owners were very friendly
A 7-minute ride from Ambo Harbour, Daichan House offers the experience of a stay in a Mongolian yurt (tent), in the tranquil countryside. Each tent is rented for a private group.

Daichan was the kindest host, he gave such detailed instructions to get to the guesthouse when I was still new to Yakushima! As a solo traveller relying on public transportation, he drove me to the supermarket and restaurant, ensuring I was well-fed not just that night but for the next day as well :") Especially during the Obon season, when many restaurants were closed, he called in to help me check if there was anywhere I could have dinner at. Daichan also planned the entire route for my next day, complete with bus timings, which bus stop to wait at, and suggestions for what to do if I had extra time!
As for the room, it was my first time staying in a yurt, which was extremely comfortable! The air-conditioning ensured a good temperature despite the rain outside. I also had a television which I could watch.
Lush, green, off the beaten track.
We loved the hiking, nature and kind people in Yakushima. Could have stayed longer than three nights to explore more trails.
Don't be afraid to eat a flying fish -- "wings" and all.
Renting a car makes it easier to get around, but we chose to stick with public transit, walking and taxi which was fine, if a bit limiting.

Amazing Jungle island to go on hikes and it has some gorgeous waterfalls especially in spring when the rain season is there. There are also some amazing beaches to chill across the island with great views

Yakushima is a beautiful island with amazing views.
Yakushima is a beautiful island with amazing views. The island is quiet and not touristy at all. Most things are closed on Sundays and don’t chose Yakushima if you want to go shopping or night life (it doesn’t exist). If you want great hiking, beautiful views and a touch of peace and quiet it’s a great place to go. Rent a car. Definitely worth it to tour the island and some of the inland roads (be warned they are very narrow and slow moving in many places, and you will need to reverse a lot for others to pass) It was a great way to see the island all its beauty and tons of monkeys.

Shiratani Unsuikyo was breathtaking.
Shiratani Unsuikyo was breathtaking. Jumonsugi Cedar trail was an adventure but not as pretty as Shiratani Unsuikyo. I am glad I did it but would not do it again. I will remember Shiratani Unsuikyo for the rest of my life as one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen and I have travelled a lot. Words cannot describe how beautiful it was. I wish I had 4 nights here. I needed one more day to explore the island. People should think twice about doing Jumonsugi trail. It is a lot and quite hard. Do it for the adventure but not for the views.

Incredible island full of wonderful nature toe explore, I could have spent 5 days here probably, although a car rental would be really helpful. The buses and taxis are relatively expensive and not always available or convenient.

You have to hike on Yakushima to really appreciate it.
You have to hike on Yakushima to really appreciate it. The drive into the hills to get to these walks is incredible. The walks through moss and forests of ancient trees is brillant. It is like stepping into another world on Yakushima. If not into hiking, then the waterfalls and beaches and tide pools are also great.
The location is stunning. We booked a room with an ocean view and it did not disappoint. The breakfast was delicious, and the hotel packed us bento boxes to take with us on hike. We made good use of the shoe dryer in the room too since we got soaked on said hike. Our stay was a bit of a splurge for us, but it was well worth it. The staff spoke English and we were able to fill in any gaps with a translation app.
hotel staffs are very kind and the location was so convenient.
Especially one of the staff was so kind that he always open to suggest local spots to visit and these were all so beautiful. (My recommendation was crystal-misaki which was close from the hotel by car). I am just so thankful to the staff all the time (I am so sorry about I didn’t ask him name…,)
The service was really good. The owner took half an hour to talk to us and explain things. He explained some interesting facts about Yakushima and so on. This is just a different experience and you should accept it as such. It might not be a hotel, but it was a pleasant experience looking back. I recommend it.
Close to Anbo Port and restaurants (about a 25-35 minute walk if you don’t have a car). Bus stops conveniently located for trips to Jomon Sugi & YakusugiLand. Ask host or information centre for times and locations. Friendly staff. I recommend at least 3 full days in Yakushima.
Very nice ryokan and perfect location : near the ferry port, and at 5min of a bus stop to take you everywhere on the island.
The host explained to me everything and helped me organise my stay in Yakushima. He was so nice !
(And the bath was perfect after a day hiking!)
