The Onsen with the river view is really fantastic. Rooms also have riverview and are quite large. We had kaiseki meal for dinner and breakfast and it was great to try all these diffrent things and be neither to full nor hungry afterwards. Very beautiful landscape. I went with my japanese Partner, who also enjoyed it very much.
The Hotel employees knew that a foreigner would come and had someone who spoke english (which was not necessary since my partner Steaks japanese but I appriate the effort).

First traditional onsen ryokan experience for me and my Aussie partner. We were absolutely stunned by how elegant and detailed of food was. It was lucky that Tokyo snowed few days ago so we get to see snow covering Kusatsu. We bathed in the onsen admiring how unreal the view was with snow. Brilliant service too but the front desk can barely speak English.
