This is a stunning property - the rooms are simple and refined, and the setting is very serene. We had a beautiful view of the water and the town, and the breakfasts were elevated and delicious in all respects. Location is great both for walks up to Senkoji Temple and park, as well as down into Onomichi. If we hadn't stayed here we also might not have encountered the little cafes and bakeries tucked away in the hills. That said, getting to LOG requires a fairly steep climb up a series of stairs/inclines, and you will find it hard to bring rolling luggage (which we did not do based on other reviews). Most decently fit people will find it doable but it may not be for everyone.

Quaint little town - lots of small, independent shops. Feels like you are stepping back in time. Everyone we met was very friendly. Perfect base for starting the Shimanino cycle ride across nearby islands. Good bike hire at docks.

Onomichi is easily one of the best places I've ever been to. There is so much beautiful scenery and so many hidden gems to enjoy. The people are marvelous and the food is amazing. And of course the great many cats to be seen make for a truly magical experience

My favourite place is the observation deck on the top of the mountain, which has a great view. You can take beautiful pictures of this city. For food, Onomichi Ramen is fatty for me, but there are other restaurants in city which have their own specialties. A city walk is recommended, since there are a lot of temples on the mountain, and you need to get there on foot, and explore their beauty. I will prepare a better shoes for the next trip and bring less item with me next time, because the tour on in the city requires a lot of physical strength.

For many Onomichi is the start of the Shimanami Kaido cycle route, but Onomichi has enough attractions that it is worth staying at least one day to look around. The Temple Walk is worth viewing the 25 temples along the route and the view from the top is great, and Cat Alley is great fun. A walk along the pier and having a snack or meal at one of the restaurants there is pleasant.

Onomichi is a nice seaside, port town and has a good vibe.
Onomichi is a nice seaside, port town and has a good vibe. Its the start, or end, of the Shimanami Kaido and attracts many people keen to do this cycling route. The town has a nice atmosphere as the people are friendly, helpful and accommodating. If I was keen I'd stay an extra day amd do the temple walking route as it seemed nice and went into the hills above town. Local ramen was demand served by super friendly hosts in the restaurants.

If you want to cycle the Shimanami Kaidou, be s7re to arrive early in Onomichi, since you are able to visit the main attractions, being Senkou-ji and the old temple course, in a few hours. After this you should be able to start cycling the Shimanami Kaidou.
Great location close to the station, restaurants, shops and bike rental places.
We had a great view from our room across the river and there is free rooftop access for a 360° view around.
Many available toiletries/amenities, free coffee and water in the lobby.
The staff was amazing and helped us finding specific restaurants. When we wanted to send our luggage to the next hotel they walked with us to the shipping company and explained what we wanted to do in Japanese for us. 11/10 service!
Great location, in the heart of Onomichi! Short walking distance to convenience stores, ramen restaurants and the famous Onomichi walking/shopping mall.
The staff were very kind and helpful, providing maps and places to rent bikes for the Shimanami Kaido.
The room was cosy, had Japanese TV and the beds were clean and comfortable.
I also enjoyed the humidifier/air purifier.
Great place to stay for people wanting to go cycling or try the famous Onomichi Ramen!
Yubune is in a fantastic location, right near the waterfront, and close to great cafes. It was the perfect stop for us overnight whilst rising the Shimanami Kaido.
Beautiful building, lovely modern Japanese decor, large room that stored our three bikes easily.
Hotel staff were lovely and helpful, and the breakfast included at a local restaurant was excellent quality! would definitely stay here again, and next time try the onsen.
We stayed in room 201, this Japanes room was spacious, clean and cozy. The only problem was the self check-in system .The tablet was hidden in a small box and the hostel entrence was also hard to find .The check-in process was like a treasure hunt challenge, I can't tell either I love it or hate it . Anyway it's an unforgetable experience. I love ONOMICHI !
The owned was just incredible. Not only was the check in smooth, the stay pleasant, the owner helpful during my stay at Onomichi. But she was also so kind to send me my adapter to Matsuyama, which I have forgotten at the hostel. It arrived to me one day later. This is a real example for Japanese hospitality and I am grateful for everything.
Excellent location for those visiting Onomichi to bike the Shimanami Kaido. The room is small, but comfortable. The shower was excellent and there was also a washer and drier. Small coffee and drink vending machine in the parking lot. Value was the best that I saw while searching for similar properties.
Close to the railway station for local trains and also very close to the bike hire place which was the reason for visiting Onimichi as riding the Shimanami Kaido cycle route to Imabari (and back).
Also close to izakaya and ramen shops.
Also a cheap and decent breakfast available at the hotel.
Room spacy and confortable. Nice bathing and wc area. We stayed here one night because it was near Onomichi and Onomichi was overbooked. There were lots of bad reviews. This facility is in a love hotel concept but we haven’t had any issues about it. Staff was nice. Breakfast inc
Close to everything for the cycling route. Walkable to groceries, some restaurants and the train station. Kitchen was nice to make a western style breakfast. Washer worked well. This is always my first choice for Onomichi. Planning to return again.
Very cool style and well thought design of the rooms and all amenities. Staff are young, energetic, and very helpful. Our stay here was one of the highlights of our trip. The restaurant for the hotel was also very good and I highly recommend.
The hotel is very stylish, and it has an amazing outdoor deck area by the seaside where you can sit and relax! The free good quality coffee and cookies are definitely a nice bonus! We spent a lot of time enjoying the coffee outside.
real, well-maintained, old style house with a gorgeous view and very friendly staff. Onomichi is a hidden gem itself while this house takes you back in time. I hope to be back in Onomichi and when I'm there I know where I'm staying.
Excellent value. Probably the cleanest hotel I’ve ever stayed at in this category. Every bit as clean as any 5 star hotel I’ve stayed in. Every surface in the room was pristine. Very impressive.
Right across from JR Onomichi station, and next to the rental cycle place for those cycling the Shimanami Kaido. Attentive english speaking staff. Room size was pretty good by Japan's standards.
