Crotto Di Somana is a jewel scarfed in between Como Lake and the mountains, in a very peaceful place, with a fantastic view, and at the same time pretty close to the village.
And Lívio is the best host we’ve found ever, always ready to help, doing all the efforts to make our stay fantastic.

Accommodation is beyond our expectations. The host has been very polite and always available when needed. The decoration is top notch, every detail has been carefully picked. Complimentary biscuits, breads and jams provided which is unexpected and was also replaced for our second night when asked. First ever stay providing Disney+ and Amazon subscriptions. Beautiful and quiet. Not yet ruined by loads of tourists. You can relax there without feeling like you have to fight for a spot. You can mingle with the locals and pretend to be one, even for just a few days. The whole town has a relaxed feel. It’s clean, well maintained. The local bread shop, gelateria, local relaxed restaurants or high end Michelin available. Very walkable. You can arrive by train or car.

Calm place, there is a nice beach and park, views to lake and to mountains, there are cafes and restaurants available, also the train station is close. I found it cheaper than other towns and with less tourists.
Good place for spending some time and make trips to other placed of interest (Lecco, Milan and others).
You can go directly to Milan via train (about 5 Euros one way and 1 h time to reach)
Lecco is 10 min away with train, easy to visit Bellagio (by water ferry) there is a ferry stop in Mandello, also You can go visit Varrena, Bellano by train, or go to Lecco and to get to mountains via funicular and make some hiking or have a picnic with views to Como lake or to mountains

Nice small town on Como lake with charming restaurants and beach. Little bit missing pomenade along the lake as Varena or Mennagio are having, but overall very pleasant place to stay. And bonus- it is just like 10-15 min train drive to Varena😊
Mamma Ciccia bistro/restaurant was recommended to us and I can really recomend it further

Mandello Del Lario has all the charm and authenticity of the villages of Lake Como without the crowds. The cherry on top is the Moto Guzzi museum. Mandello Del Lario has everything to like and nothing not to like - heaven on the shores of Lake Como.

This is the home of Motor Guzzi, and you can visit the museum there. It is easy to get around and visit the lake. We ate Hotel Al Verde and the food was excellent.
There is a train to the town, and the loop road around the lake to follow North.

Everything was exceptional, the hosts were so kind and helpful, the apartment was clean and equipped with all the basics (soap, shampoo, electric kettle, etc). the crotto was close to where the mountain routes begin (which was great for me as I spent most of my time on the nearby mountains) but at the same time quite a walk uphill from Mandello del Lario, so it's best if you have a car if you're plan on going in to the city often. one of the best stays I've experienced in all of my travels, very relaxed atmosphere.
We booked both double room and apartments for the weekend. Apartments were very clean,everything is new,modern,and we had a lot of space for clothes. Very nice view to mountains. 5 min walk to the lake. Amenities of hotel were also very good - proper Wi-Fi, air conditioning, etc. You can definitely comfortably stay in this hotel for proper long vacation. Also, stuff was amazing, very helpful and nice. I would highly recommend staying there.

I'm in utter awe! Property is just amazing, everything was sparkling clean and well though-through. The smell in apartment was exceptional (specially I enjoyed the smell of shower gel, just like in luxury hotels). There's a dedicated workspace with the lamp and more than enough sockets. Owner Marco is careful to details, so he prepared everything that tourist might need in any situation.
The location of the hotel was fantastic, a 30 second walk to Lake Como and the lake ferry. Lots of restaurants close by. A lovely small town. The room was clean and comfortable with new amenities. There is no reception but I used WhatsApp to message the staff and Roberto was quick to respond. The shower was amazing (we did have an issue with the heat but it was fixed)
The location of this hotel is perfect. Close to the port. Enrica is really helpful and kind. She tried to help us even with the things that she is not responsible of. There are good facilities in the room, even milk frother and milk besides some snacks. There were all free of charge. The room seems cozy and well-designed. I like it very much.
Very close to the train station where you can catch train directly to Varenna and then ferry to Bellagio or Menaggio. Even though the train stadion is very close it wasn’t noisy at all. The restaurant down the hotel was very nice. We had AC in the room, but it wasn’t working perfectly. There was also a fridge in the room.
The mountain view from the hotel room balcony and restaurant terrace were beautiful. The dinner was great and breakfast was also quite good including e.g. coffee, bread, cutlets, cheese, fruit, yoghurt and eggs. Aircon was very efficient! Staff was friendly and helpful.

The view was very beautiful. The beach, restaurants, bars, bakeries were very close to the apartment. There is also a ferry station very close to the apartment. The hotel staff was very kind and even provided us with a Wi-Fi/4G router.

This quintessential little place was a perfect spot for a relaxing stay. Mandello Del Lario is a delightful town away from the chaos in Lecco and even in the busy month of July it didn't feel overcrowded.
Breakfast was great, location was great, dinner was great. Wonderful hotel reception! Free parking and the town was beautiful. Will stay longer next time!
