It was probably the best place we ever stayed in Italy! ❤️ The road to the hotel is winding and sometimes narrow for 2 cars, but these difficulties do not mean anything. I went on the ferry to Villa Carlotta I left Brunate at 8.30am and took the Ferry at 10am.
It is 2 hours to Villa Caroltta on the lake but it is FAB with beautiful views.
There are various stops along the lake, Double check your return journey as I missed the boat back, There is a bus it takes about 45 minutes and get a ticket from the newsagent down the road for 5 euros, There is a stop by the ferry stop and one outside the newsagent.
With your back to the ferry stop you will see the Como bus Fermata across the road. And turn left from the ferry stop for the newsagent there are shops/cafe here too.
There are FAB resturants in Como. My husband enjoyed the one on the sea front near the ferry stop it served delicious sea food!

Brunate is definitely a beautiful place, riding a train from como to the top of the mountains was already a wonderful experience. The stunning panoramic view from the top where you can see the whole province of como.

Nothing of interest here really. Maybe the Volta lighthouse ? (Closed by the time we arrived, so couldn't really tell). Nice view over the lake (Villa d'Este a.o.) from up there. If you do want to come to Brunate, I strongly suggest you take the Funicular from Como for a short round trip. Coming here with a larger car is a bit of a nightmare, and spending the night here was a mistake, wish we'd stayed in Como.
The room had an amazing view over Como lake. Was very clean and lovely decorated. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was well equipped.
The breakfast was delicious with home made products. The landlords are very friendly and helpful. Was a pleasure spending the weekend at the property.
The property is very easy reachable from the Como Lago train station with the funicular to Brunate (last departure during week is 22:30, during the weekend is 24) and then a small walk.
There is also parking space near the house.
We just came back from 3 night at Relais Villino Rubini, and hands down it is the bets hotel experience we've had. From the beautiful, detailed design, to the delicious breakfast to the linen bedsheets and the scenic garden, everything is meant to give you the feeling of a high class hospitalty. And of course, the wonderful Massimo who took care of us like family, with such attentiona and care. We highly recommend this stay, we fell in love with Brunate and already want to book again for next year :)
The owner of the property really tries hard to make you feel welcomed. He didn't rush us to pay or check in, offered a bigger room, tried to fix issues right away the way he could. We truly wish him all the best with the future developments of the faclities. The restaurant food was fine however keep in mind that prices are pretty high, in my opinion it should be lower considering the location and level of the hotel overall.
The place is amazing. Up in the hills of Brunate you can leave your car and do everything using the feniculare at a walking distance. The place is quiet and the owner is really helpful. She shared tips about the region and served delicious breakfast (thank you for the clafouti). We will come back. Enjoy a visit of the well maintained gardens. Thank you for everything!
Most amazing view from restaurant patio of Lake Como end/end. The family run hotel provided very friendly/home service. It’s a bit hard to find, and I got lost on my way up and ended up back in town, but the owner, Roberto drove into Como, found me and escorted me back to the hotel. Food was amazing as well. Great value once you find it! 👍👍
The host helped us by whatsapp with many suggestion and how to find the place, which is in brunate on top of a hill, with a view on the old city center. Very close to Como, it is also possible to reach the lake shore with a special train called "funicolare" which climbs straight up and down along the hill.

The best part of the stay was without a doubt the view, the hotel is located on top of a hill higher than clouds but the road up there from Como is half an hour of crazy turns where only one car can pass, so book only if you are up to that drive. The staff were quite nice.
