Avola is a nice town near the sea: famous for its almonds, honey and wine, it has some baroque feeling to it, though not as much as Scicli for instance. It is a near-perfect base to visit Syracusae, the beaches of Noto or the town of Modica: all within reach from 20 minutes to 1 hour, but it can also be a relaxing place in itself. A recommendation would be to visit "Bar Pasticceria Mangiafico" in town, that since 1972 delivers quality in pastries and sicilian street food!
On the side of warnings, it needs to be said that the old town has very narrow roads, and getting around by car requires some driving skills.

Avola seems like a ghost town in peak summer times
No good restaurants, no bars and nothing seems to be happening.
All the shops seemed closed once you got off the beach. Luckily I had a car so I could drive to neighbouring cities

Avola isn't the prettiest town, though it does have its nice parts, but it is the perfect base to explore south east Sicily. The beaches are decent, there are plenty of nice places to eat and the access is good.
The best place to stay close to Avola and Siracuse. Great host, beautiful, well-kept garden. Perfect and safe place when you are visiting with kids. Separate parking area. Possibility to use grill. There is a pond with fishes but good fenced so it's safe for children. Everything clean and neat. Host Elena is very friendly and let you taste some home cooked Italian food which allows you to get to know Sicily from different angle because you will not experience anything like that in the restaurants.
I loved the facility which is a proper B&B, almost hotel-like. The property has a reception hall with lots of beautiful plants, a large breakfast area and a nice swimming pool, making the place look like a little paradise inside Avola. They offered an excellent breakfast and even served almond milk from the territory ( we had almond cappuccino) which was a real treat.
The property is not far from train station / bus station, which is great as we don’t drive. We got upgraded to the room with the jacuzzi tub. It’s such a nice room, clean and tidy with characters. Bathroom is clean. Staff are super friendly. The pool outside would be great if the weather was warmer. We will come back to this place when we visit Avola next time!
Valentina was a wonderful host! Great communication and amazing care of her guests, providing an extremely rich breakfast, also including fresh croissants of choice from local bakery, and suggestions about attractions to visit around Avola. The room was clean and comfortable, parking was easy on the street. It was a really pleasant stay. Strongly recommended!
everything, the accommodation was scenic set into the side of mountains and was a perfect getaway for relaxing and been left alone. The staff despite the language barrier were always on hand to help, they were so friendly and patient and the food was a true vision of Sicily. We were welcomed instantly and the pool was a perfect suntrap.
A perfect property for our family holiday in Avola, the hosts are very gentile and friendly, the property is very very clean and most of all our furry dog was very welcomed, easy parking facilities, a delicious breakfast was served every morning and 24hr assistance.
Definitely a recommended B&B for sure we will visit again
Very nice and very clean family apartment with little private garden. Nice host, who lives just next door. 20 min walk to the nice sandy beach. 30-40 min walk to Avola city center and stores. Ideal for families. Host green attitude, garbage sorting. Fast internet.
Very nice apartment with 2 terraces. Perfect location if you want to enjoy the south east of Sicily.
The apartment is equipped with everything one needs to cook at home.
The guest is very friendly and provides you with all the information you need.
We´ve spent ten wonderful days in lovely Avola with Irene and Giuseppe. They helped us for any issues and the house and area was fantastic. The kids loved the pool, also garden shower and barbecue was great! Thank you for hosting us.
I liked literally everything. Really nice owners, very clean, all appliances are working, wonderful breakfast, the best mattress and pillow I saw in Sicily :) The room is spacious. Beach is just a 10 min walk. Cava Grande not far.
Nice and big villa next to the sea. Comfortable, spacious and clean room, good variety of breakfast. Good spot to explore busy Sirakusa, Noto, Ragusa or to spend time in beautiful Avola and come back to villa for a quality rest.
Everything, in particular the great hospitality of the staff of the structure, the clean of room e good breakfast every morning.
And Giusy helps and advises you for tours in the beautiful cities and fabulous beaches of Sicily
Very nice location in walking distance to the best beaches of Avola. Many beautiful places in the southeast of Sicily can be perfectly reached from here. Calm area. Nice garden. Well equipped. Very comfortable.
Location is great, very close to the beach. It's also close to the small town, Avola, for a nice promenade and an ice-cream on the seaside. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious, I definitely recommend it!
Very nice and helpful host, very clean rooms, delicious pastries for breakfast. Avola is an excellent starting point for exploring the south-eastern part of Sicily.
