stunning, make sure you walk all the way down the trail, there are two other gorgeous waterfalls that a lot of people missed by not going all the way to end end of the trail (which is only a few hundred meters long).

This is an amazing place to hike and see some glorious views - especially on a clear day - which can be a bit tricky. We were extremely fortunate to have some of the the sunniest days recorded. Could not ask for a more comfortable hike. There are glacier hikes that you can pay for but honestly parking at the Park and hiking up yourself is something you will not soon forget. Not too laborious, but you defintely feel like you are exercising. Loved every minute of this hike and I wish I could have stayed longer.

Sadly we only had a day in Skaftafell and I wish we had more time to explore the national park. What we did see was stunning. Nature, hikes, glaciers and ocean all within a stones throw of each other. Well worth a longer visit than just to pass through.

Tremendous family run generational local property.
Tremendous family run generational local property. Gorgeous setting and very close to National Park. Great path in rear of property leading to amazing glacier views and outlet lagoon. Lovely dinner and dessert! Friendly, warm staff. Great relaxing indoor bar and outdoor patio with stunning glacier views. Thank you, Hotel Skaftafell!!!
The proximity to the glacier…Just 10 minutes walk in the back of the hotel, it was better than the hikes we did in the park. The breakfast was good. Don’t know why previous reviewers complained about! It is. Little bit pricey but for the location it is worth it. I almost didn’t book here after seeing all the reviews . So glad we did! We will definitely stay there again.
Our room was at the back of the hotel and had a magnificent view of a snow capped mountain. We went for a walk (suggested by receptionist) after checking in to the glacier at the back of the hotel. Easy path and worth doing. The room was very clean and cosy with comfortable beds. A good night’s sleep. Breakfast was a buffet and plentiful.
We were greeted in an absolutely lovely way. The room was clean and had everything one needs. The food in the evening was delicious and exactly what we were looking for- as well as the breakfast in the morning.
THE BEST is the glacier right behind the hotel, just a short walk away. The greatest ending one could have for the end of the day.
The views from the Hotel Skafatell property are amazing - mountains, glacier views. There is a short hiking trail behind the property that takes you to the edge of a glacier. We are dinner at the on-site restaurant. Our best meal on the trip! The breakfast buffet in was outstanding with a variety of choices.
Great staff, excellent free breakfast, good restaurant, and unforgettable views! The rooms are classically Euro- Spartan. No frills but all the basics were in good order. Room had twin beds instead of a single queen and the room was missing bath towels. All in all, a good experience and I would stay there again.
Staff were all lovely. Hotel is functional, rooms are adequate. Most importantly the showers work! Of course, this is an amazing location for Skaftafell-area adventures, only a 5-minute drive from the visitor centre parking.
Restaurant was very high-quality and surprisingly affordable, by Iceland standards.
Hotel Skaftafell seems a little generic but is in a great location. There is a short 15 min hike to a fantastic overview of a glacier and lake. We hike through infinite fields of lupines. Be careful on the way back. One of us slipped and got all bloody since the lava rocks are hard! Breakfast was good.
The property was clean, comfortable and quiet. The hotel was a very short distance from the ice glaciers and we walked for 2 hours to see them up close. We went for dinner at night and food was delicious. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was really good with a variety of choices.
Perfect location for glacier walk/hike, 40minute drive to diamond beach. The hotel is quite basic, but clean, comfortable and quiet. Reception offer a wake up call if the Northern Lights are active - we were lucky enough to see them and grateful for the call.
The hotel has a lovely view of the glaciers and was a 4 minute drive to the entrance of the national park. Good breakfast, which is included, and dinner was exceptional.
The breakfast was amazing. It is also located very close to the glacier. There is a trail
that begins behind the hotel and leads to the glacier. It was a beautiful walk.
amazing views from every corner of the hotel, especially the bar! the room was clean, great location (6 min drive from skaftafell), the restaurant was good
