I stayed in Varkala for 3 nights.
I stayed in Varkala for 3 nights. This was mainly due to train timings. 2 nights would’ve been enough. I did a yoga class and auryvedic massage on the last day this would have been better in the second day.
What I did find slightly confusing was the references to North & South Cliff whereas I think South Cliff was an extension of the cliff walk - starting with North cliff.
Plenty of choice for food although a particular favourite was Sun Francisco - the Veg Tali was delicious and good value for money.

Varkala beach is busy very busy on weekends with lots of Indian tourists. The cliff side walk has lots of restaurants and shops. We found the beach a bit rough with the waves but beyond the waves it was calm . The stairs to the beach can be challenging if you have knee issues . It’s has a good atmosphere but we prefer less touristy places hence staying at Odayam each area .

Best restaurant is Clafouti for me.

Beautiful views from the cliffs, plenty of beaches, option to learn surfing (!), good food, and the most gorgeous mangrove/backwaters (30 mins away).... that's Varakala in nutshell. Lovely cliffside walks with breaks for some ice cream at Scoopy or a whole Israeli breakfast(yummmm) at Buddha Bar. We loved ABBA for all other hunger pangs. Having a rented scooter to go around the places away from the cliffs helps, but there were plenty of Autos as well.

Its took travel time is too far, Kerala roads are not good. Many people not follow traffic rules. Really upset to road travel to Kerala. Many sign boards are shown only in Malayalam Language, we struggled with read.
Except that places are really good and peoples also very friendly.
Rooms were spacious, spotlessly clean and well air conditioned - bathrooms too. Bed very comfortable and shower brilliant. Nice touches in the room such as water, toiletries and amenities (fridge, safe etc). Pool was great and open slightly beyond sunset, and easy access to Varkala beach and North Cliff via the path (during the day). Breakfast has a lot of options, and the treatments we had in the spa were very relaxing. Staff are pleasant and very helpful and the same day laundry service was very efficient.
Quiet residential cosmopolitan locality on peaceful South Cliff, away from the bustle of North Cliff in Dec last week. Quick access to vast clean and desolate beach. Auto stand is opposite to the property. Lot of good eateries nearby. Our host recommended chimney restaurant and it didn't dissapoint. Our favourite place here was the terrace garden.All its greenery, excellent sea view and little secrets like the fish trough. The cups of tea in the morning and night sky photography still linger. Go get it.

Beautiful hostel, and great relaxed vibe, kept spotlessly clean and with great facilities including a communal kitchen, rooftop social area with yoga mats, comfy seating, ping pong , outdoor social area. Options for AC or fan dorms. Very close to Varkala beach and cliff markets. Great local options for delicious and budget friendly meals close by or prepared by the hostel staff. Staff go out of their way to help with anything you need - scooty rental , recommendations etc

First and foremost we loved the ambience and had an amazing experience. In addition to the good accomodation the breakfast they served was very good. Just a few steps away from the beach, it was nice and peaceful place. The service by Thayub and John made us very comfortable and also they helped us to navigate varkala throughout the stay. Just a phone call away, they served at best. Looking forward to stay there again.
Nevertheless the location of this place is perfect. Right at the beginning of the cliff way and also not to far from the beach.
Eventhough the terrace did not look exactly as on the photos it was nice and has a partial sea view where we have enjoyed the sunset mutliple times.

This is the best place to stay in Varkala. It is very close to the cliff, nevertheless very quiet and cosy and the rooms are spaciious and very clean with a very nice balkony. The people are very friendly, helping their guests with everything and making them feel at home. I liked this place so much that I came back here and I can highly recommend this place to everyone.
Soul hostel is one of the best places to stay in Varkala. The property is very beautiful, well maintained and close to beach. The dorms were quite spacious, neat and washrooms were clean. Staff were very polite and helpful. But the best part about the hostel was the vibe. Prefect place to just enjoy, chill by the sea and spend some quality laid-back vacation time.
The location was perfect considering the beach was merely five minutes away. Its proximity to resort-restaurants made my stay during the pandemic stress-free. This place is perfect because it’s the only resort directly at the varkala beach. everyone else needs to climb down the cliff while you just step out onto the sand.

Extremely helpful staff and the owner Thayoob sir was very kind and welcoming ! A little far from the north cliff...however the location is peaceful and at a walkable distance from the sea. Their breakfast was remarkable. Highly recommend and would come here again !

Wanted to love this place as been staying in basic and eco - friendly places back packing across India. Location right by small beach and sea path great, albeit 30 minutes walk to north cliff, 50 to south. Very nice manager sujesh and good baked bread . Water refills.
