Kandaghat is middle place, from where you have 3 great tourist hill stations at equal distances : Shimla , Chail & Kasauli.
Kufri is at a distance, midway between Shimla & Chail.
So, if you are on bike or car from Delhi for shimla, please take a halt at Kandhaghat, may for a day and then start you journey next day with high energy.

This place is good for nature lovers. Not congested like SHIMLA.There are good resturants in all hotels.Road side dhabas also serve good food.
kandaghat is on Shimla highway.For activities Club Mahindra is a good place .There are so many activities for every age.

Basis my experience , I believe property owners claim , the charges collected by online travel booking fis from client are almost 100 % higher than what the property owners are actually being paid .
As a result these property refuse to honor / entertain you .
My suggestion :
If it is possible try to establish direct contact with property owner and get your stay confirmed.
In the event of any uncertainty atlleast he will not leave you hopeless as in case of few travel bookings firms
