The location is outstanding, near to the beach, places to dine. We stayed for four night as we had been invited to a family gathering. The accommodation was situation, in a quiet locate, but near activities. We ate at nearby Smugglers Creek and the Gaslight. Perfect meals with outside seating.

If you are driving and staying outside of Rossnowlagh then you obviously won’t have a drink. My advice to those that wish to go into the resort is that taxis are good BUT…BEWARE… It will be almost impossible to get a taxi on a Sunday night. We got caught out and only the kind offer of a lift by the barman in the Smugglers Creek in to drive us back to our accommodation saved the day. Otherwise we would have been stranded.

The Bakery Shack in Rossnowlagh do very delicious coffee and various savoury and sweet things to eat. Highly recommend the Franciscan Friary and the Catholic church nearby for a quiet place to pray.

The community is very welcoming to anybody and everybody. Being from the countryside they still have that sense of community bonding Ireland’s known for. The sights are as beautiful as the people and I’d recommend anyone looking for a relaxing getaway to head up there

Surfers paradise! Great location to tour Donegal.

Surfers paradise! Great location to tour Donegal. People are very friendly. Stayed in The Bee Pods which were ideal - pet free, child free and overlooking the beach. To wake up to the sound of the sea was a dream. The Smuggler's Inn was a lovely restaurant also overlooking Rossnowlagh beach and a visit to Slieve League Cliffs is worth the climb to see the views of Donegal.

Ok, the driving is scary if you're not used to driving on the left along narrow, windy roads-- but apart from that, you will not find a more beautiful setting, especially is you prefer cool weather. Mountains, ocean, lakes, gorgeous rural landscape. I was, unfortunately, unable to get around due to a leg injury early on the trip, but sitting by the ocean at the Sandhouse Hotel was enough for me. Next time, I hope to visit the nearby Islands and the Gaeltacht (Irish speaking areas), and to stay there long enough to hear traditional music. Our 2 1/2 days was not nearly enough time! ps I'm not a swimmer or surfer, but these are very popular activities here.

Really enjoyed our stay. The view from our pod was amazing. The extras left in the pod like milk, orange juice, bread, snacks, etc were a lovely touch and much appreciated. The pod had all we needed- kettle, fridge, toaster, microwave, TV. The pressure in the shower was fantastic. Communication with the host was easy. The location was great. Near to the incredible Rossnowlagh beach, and a great base for seeing Sligo and Donegal. Would highly recommend staying here.

Jonathan’s B&B was the perfect place to stay and explore Donegal. The place was very clean and tidy. Breakfast was included and had lots of options. We were 10minutes from Donegal town and the view from the house was lovely. Jonathan was extremely friendly and helpful. Went so far as to offer us a lift to Donegal to collect our car. Would definitely go back, and very much recommend!

Salt house is Rossnowlagh’s best kept secret. We can’t wait to return. This home is an architectural gem with views that take your breath away and beautiful interiors which have been keenly selected to pick up the soft coastal tones of the local area. Just heaven!
