The places worth visiting in the village are the Abbey, the unusual Way of the Cross, St. Partick's well and the Corley's pub with a fantastic staff and hearty food. The Moore Hall is an amazing place - it is full of history, a walking loop with wooden sculptures that children loved. The village is a very convenient location to start sightseeing Co. Mayo. There is a good 3-mile running route (loop), too. Staying in the Tranquil Escapes B&B is a must :)

Great base for exploring South Mayo, particularly Croagh Patrick and beyond or Lough Mask. There are some great restaurants in nearby Partry and a little further afield in Westport. We really enjoyed The Lough Inn and The Towers. The only thing I would recommend is if walking around the area, ensure you have some sort of Hi-Viz. There are lots of great spots for hiking, swimming, shopping and dancing and also many local festivals. Our host was very knowledgeable about what was going on in the area.

Ballintober is a lovely village just outside Wesport town, were it is rural enough for peace and quiet but close enough to do a spot of shopping and pub crawling. Lovely place close to many tourist spots to visit. Highly recommend booking here. You should visit Ballintubber Abbey where Pearce Brosnan got married while here! But there are also little villages like Aghagower and Partry that you could visit. Or pop down and climb Crough Padraigh or stroll around Clew Bay!!
