This was my first time to Sumba. The beach house is the best location. Beautiful beaches. Great food. But the staff and local people really made our stay special. Particularly a lady named Jenni. She works at the beach house. She is helpful, funny, great English, and just made our stay homely. Already miss seeing her beautiful smile.
The local kids on the beach are always wanting to practice there English with me. What an amazing adventure

Beautiful setting - property a little tired, but bedroom comfort and decor, comfortable and charming. But bathroom sinks need clean behind. Evening meal could be more exciting - but breakfast good.

We loved our stay at Rua Beach Resort, a wonderful oasis in a fairly isolated area of Sumba. Our bungalow was spacious and clean with the most comfortable bed and the softest cotton linens. The staff was welcoming, warm and helpful, especially, the manager, Anna, who gracefully acted as our translator to help us retrieve our forgotten mobile. The food was delicious and fresh, including the same-day locally caught fish. The best part however, was definitely the beach, which was any beach lover's dream. Last be sure to visit the nearby traditional villages to experience the unique Sumbanese culture. We highly recommend Rua Beach Resort!
