THE BESTEST FAMILY EVER. we felt like home as soon as we got in. literally the sweetest most warm and loving lady runs it. Great homestay located in Kenda village just outside Ruteng. Amazing views from the terraces and lovely introduction to Indonesian life. You can do a sunrise hike through the rice terraces with Jeff the owner and dinner (optional extra) is a shared affair wearing traditional sarongs and shared with other guests. Very friendly and welcoming. Jeff went out of his way to drive us to Labuan Bajo after our stay.

This is not ordinary accommodation. It’s a truly local experience with a local family. They welcomed us with a smile and they let us feel like part of the family. Facilities are basic but there are all the essentials: WiFi working well, comfy bed, (we had a private) bathroom with running water on toilet and a (cold) shower, a tasty meal prepared by the family. They speak good English and even the daughters do! The location is a bit outside the centre of the town and on a hill, but we liked walking around cheered by locals to watch the village life going on. We would definitely go back again. Cute little hostel. Comfortable beds with charging ports right next to every bed. Good flushing toilet, some of the best showers I've used in all Indonesia, and lovely outdoor garden patio area to chill and relax. What really makes this hostel are the staff - absolutely lovely and really ready to help you in any way they can! The breakfast they make is big, filling, and tasty. Would recommend to any traveller looking for a dormitory bed on their way through Ruteng.
