I really like this place and it was the second time I stopped there. It's on the outskirts of the town with on-street parking or in the courtyard. The apartments really are that and you could use it as a base for a holiday exploring the area or just a getaway where no-one will find you as it has a proper kitchen etc. There is a shop open late opposite with all basic needs and a cash point a few hundred yards up the road. It's about a mile and a half into town where there are genuinely good restaurants and some food to be found until 10 or 11pm. In hindsight I'd consider getting a cab unless you really like 0% beer as Hungary has regulations against any detectable alcohol when driving. It's an area that has a lot of community events and the first time we were there there was an open air concert. You can also choose to use the motorway border crossing or a tiny backroad one into a quiet bit of Romania.

The entrance is a bit hidden, it isn't at the side where the main parking is, so I recommend looking it on a map before coming.

The spa is exceptional. Water is warm and relaxing. It is a great experience to swim outside on -1 degrees. This period of year is probably good because it was not crowded just right. Also sauna world was great. There are a few nice restaurants around the spa.

Makó is a small but charming city 30km west from Szeged.
Makó is a small but charming city 30km west from Szeged. Also know as the Onion city, hence the onion is a main symbol you can find in many buildings and monuments design. The main reason to go there is Mako Hagymatikum Furdo or just Mako spa complex. With its unique architecture and great indoor and outdoor pools and thermal spas, saunas and facilities, it is a great place to relax and recharge, or just spend time with friends and family in a tranquil and stress free environment. Locals are very friendly, kind and welcoming.
Mako is perfect for a weekend get away.

Good position very close to the highway. The host is welcoming, discreet and ready to help you all the time. Clean and well equipped location. Breakfast was varied and copious. An excellent place to stop for one night and not only.
Check in very easy and smooth.
The location is insanely good, within a forest just outside of Mako, birds singing day and night.
Had a fantastic terrace with fly nets to keep the insects out and had a great yard which was perfect for our dogs as they could run around without us worrying about them escaping.
Staff were lovely and left some Hungarian beers in the fridge for us :)

The host very attentive, kind and helpful. Parking space in the yard of the property. Very close to the Hagymatikum baths. The apartment is clean and extremely functional. It contains everything necessary for a stay. Fully equipped kitchen, microwave oven, espresso machine, coffee, tea, sugar and salt. Good wi-fi. The bathroom is clean and beautiful. The heating is excellent, it was even too hot for us. I highly recommend!

Excellent services from the owner, very proactive and helpful during the whole staying. Very good conditions of the accomodation, all accessories needed were there. Modern entrance and exit, with code and remote control. Very good position, literally next to a super market and a gas station. Also close to Mako Aquapark. The area was quiet and proper to relaxation.
We had such a wonderful time at Mr. Gabor's place! He was super kind and helpful. The apartment itself is gorgeous, spacious and very well equipped. We planned to visit Mako and were happy with the fact that this apartment was literally looking at Mako, so it takes only a couple of minutes to get there by walk.
We would definitely recommend this place!
The apartment is fantastic, spacious, clean, very good equpted and the location is just beside the Spa and Welness Center. The heating was great too. The owners are very nice people and we had a warm welcome. When we come again in Mako we would deffinitely chose to come to Orchidea Apartment again. Best recomendations.

We've stayed here a few times over the years. Always nice and pleasant, friendly service, basic but comfortable facilities, close to the Mako thermal spa. They have discount cards for the spa as well. Private parking area is very secure, too.
