This property is more than simply a farm stay. Our hosts were so warm, welcoming and passionate about show casing the traditional Cretan way of life.
The property was superb and had everything we could have wanted.
The location in a secluded mountain valley with a working farm was superb.

Easy to find and no trouble checking in. Nice lady at reception showed us 2 rooms, one at the front of the hotel and one at the back. We opted for the rear room away from the main road. Double glazing kept any other noise out well and the aircon was quiet so a good night sleep was had.
Room a good size, clean, comfortable bed and decent shower room..hooray!
Included breakfast was a bit indifferent but some nice pastries and coffee.

This came a bit randomly in our trip and we’re glad it did. We loved Zaros for both the warmth of its people and the beauty of its decor. Our hike in Rouvas was great and every encounter was like it was family members.
One of the highlights of our trip to Creta. If you like getting closer to people and their culture it’s a must on your list.
If you’re into more attractions or shopping this one is not for you.

A very nice area of olive groves and brush from 500 m up where you can go hiking right from the hotel (Agios Ethimnios, Rouvas Gorge) or from Lake Votomos. You can also visit monasteries (in particular Vrontisi monastery). Plenty of good and very affordable tavernas around.

Zaros is a very nice village with good food (I highly recommend Vegera tavern- I got a delicious fish with different salads, fries, pasta, bread, olives, wine and dessert for only 15 euro, everything was so delicious and the owner is so nice and kind, she gave me advice on what to see near Zaros etc.), well ecquiped shops, 2 gas stations, nice architecture, coffee shops, hotels (recommended espetially Keramos hotel! - the owners hosted me at their farm but I also saw the hotel and it is amazing!), sourranded by the mountains. Very calm place, where it is nice to walk (there is a famous lake near). There is also a beautiful monastery not far from the village. It is easy to reach the seashore (30 mins by car). I espetially recommend Komos and Agiofarago beaches.

Zaros is a typical small Creten town with little to recommend it. The Idi Hotel is another world.
I wouldn't recommend Zaros for anything. but the hotel could be used as a base for many of the activities below.
I would recommend a stop in Zaros at Keramos to anybody visiting Crete. It gives you the opportunity to experience the authentic Cretan hospitality and atmosphear, adding special value to your trip. At Keramos you really feel welcomed like a family member and the home made breakfast it is a not to miss part of the experience. It is nice to come back after a day by the beach (Matala is only 40 minutes away) and disconnect in Zaros sorrounded by the mountains and by wonderful people.
The apartment is located in Kato Zaros, which is a smaller part of the main village (Zaros) in the southwest of the area. Quiet location with great views towards the mountains in the west and north of the area. Very spacious with two bedrooms and a large kitchen/living area and a nice balcony facing west. Everything needed was present. Contact with the host was via messages only (key in a locker box), but Christos is very helpful and answers on requests quickly.
The host family was exceptionally warm, friendly, and helpful. A delicious homemade breakfast of traditional Cretan foods was served each morning for only 7 euros. The rooms and building were beautiful and very nicely decorated. Located near hiking trails and in a small town where walking was enjoyable. Beautiful mountain scenery from the hotel and town. A very nice restaurant (Vegera) and crêperie nearby, as well as bakeries, grocery stores, etc.
Warm welcome by the friendly owners with home made local delicacies and tour around the house. Very quite location, with a lovely view from the terras on the Zaros mountains. The house is spacious, clean and all equipment is available. Excellent place to feel the authenticity of this very charming village and good base to explore the environment.
The breakfast was sensational including a cheese making demonstration. It had so many options, great quality beautiful home made typical cretan food.
Michael is and his daughter Katherine have been super hosts and beautifully thoughtful and caring.
The view from the spacious, lovely decorated room was stunning. We enjoyed sunset on the balcony.
This is a small, country, hotel with good facilities. The location is great, away from the excessive heat of the seaside, up into the mountains. The pool is great and the grounds are well maintained. The breakfast is good and the attached restaurant is great for lunch and dinner. All in all a very good place.
The atmosphere of this family owned property is filled with Cretan style and love. The family welcomed us with coffee and a sweet before showing us to our room. The daughter is fluent in English, and the family is very helpful. The breakfast for 6€ is a deal, with plenty of homemade treats to choose from.
Dimitris is a very nice & supportive host and he always has a solution for your troubles and Zaros is a village lost in the middle of the mountains. If you want to taste the real Crete far from the sea and thousands of tourists - this is the place! Good spot for hiking in Psiloritis Mountains.
The location of the farm was amazing, surrounded by mountains and in total piece outside of Zaros.
We were warmly welcomed by the family, received cretan wine upon arrival and great recommendations for the area.
Make sure that you do not miss the farm experience. We hope to he back again!
Room was big. They try everything to make it comfortabele. The key to the door is like a door from an old castle. Zaros is the area they make the famous water in greece. Nice place in the mountains. On the room you have Coffee and refridgerator. On the first floor there is breakfast.
Hosts were super warm and the house has belonged to the family for generations. it had specific architecture (typical Greek). beds were comfortable and view of the garden - very nice. Breakfast was paid but very good including traditional Cretan pie. definitely would stay again.
Incredible hotel with incredible owners, and super breakfast...in the same center of the village, they help you with everything you need, and always helps you and tell you whatever you want to know....the best place i stayed in crete!
The property is more beautiful than you could imagine. The atmosphere is relaxing and the hotel has an amazing restaurant and a cute bar near the pool.
