Holiday Inn Express Exeter East, an IHG Hotel, hotel in Woodbury

The contemporary Holiday Inn Express Exeter East offers great value accommodation with inclusive breakfast and free WiFi, all in a convenient location to explore the beautiful countryside of Devon.

The staff very nice and welcoming. Great hotel has a carpark. The breakfast wasn't hot, hot, hot by the time you seat down to eat, but it was nice. The restaurant near by was good to have, as we came back late and thought, lets check it out so we didn't have to go back into town for dinner. The Hotel is close to the motorway so easy get away when checked out.

The St George and Dragon by Innkeeper's Collection, hotel in Woodbury

Surrounded by farms and historic buildings, Innkeeper's Lodge Exeter is a 19th-century lodge set in the pretty village of Clyst St George.

We had two rooms, my wife and myself plus two friends, and we were primarily staying in this area as we were going to Sandy Park for the Exeter Chiefs vs Harlequins Rugby match, which was just a 10 min taxi ride. So my wife did some research and Topsham seemed a perfect location and good reviews on Booking.com. Well the location was excellent, it was about 2 mile walk to Topsham (or No. 57 bus), to a stunning village by the estuary. Some lovely riverside pubs (one by a big Antiques place), plus a very nice walk called the "Goat Walk" past the RSPB hide which leads down to a riverside walk and probably the best Indian restaurant meal we have ever had at "Denley's Essence of India". On the Saturday we also took in the Pebblebed Vinyard 2 hrs Tour. The George and Dragon, was a charming "olde" type pub, with modern rooms extending off the side and back. Lovely bar area and a nice garden to the rear with loads of tables. The staff were so friendly, the check-in was painless and quick (done online ahead of time) and the rooms were clean, practical, not huge, but everything you would expect, nice cubicle shower, bed a little on the firm side but with a nice view over the surrounding area. Breakfast was not including in our room bookings, however it uses the restaurant area, nicely laid out and was orderable via a menu on the day. Eggs benedict was superb, and the Full English was a whopper (with delicious sausages and cherry Toms on the vine (nice touch). I can only imagine that the restaurant food is also as good as it looked. We will be coming here again, for next Chiefs vs Quins match and may even use it is an overnight when traveling to Cornwall. You also must drop into the Darts Farm shop just a few hundred yards down the road, but be prepared to spend more than you first thought, just looks (food and drink) stunningly laid out, the mature cheddar cheese especially nice.

Excellent hotel. Brilliant location. Easy to find. Nice deco. Rooms large. Hotel and rooms spotlessly clean. Excellent breakfast. Off street parking available. All staff really helpful. Nothing too much and all done with a smile. Hotel and cleaning staff really nice to talk too. The quality of the hotel was icing on the cake to our weekend break. Highly recommended.

    Poor restaurant service e.g.

Poor restaurant service e.g. Not well catered for vegans with inaccurate VG menu markings i.e. Thai curry had fish sauce in it and was marked as VG which is misleading. Should use different markings for vegetarian and vegans not the same VG marking! e.g. Ran out of ingredients and was promised a discount on the dinner bill plus free drinks but neither was given. e.g. Breakfast was cheap porridge very badly cooked and limited choice i.e. no fruit or juice was offered with the porridge e.g. Very dirty restaurant carpet with horrible marks all over it. Time for a new carpet? Poor spa availability e.g. Very limited availability and not enough time using the spa facilities which was upsetting consider I paid for a £200 spa break.

With the covid restrictions we had 30 min to use the sauna. Most of the elderly ladies who just finished a exercise class in the swimming pool finished came and joined the spa facilities. Evethough we had another 15 minutes from our session we had to leave as the steam room and jacuzzi were overcrowded.

the hotel is nice enough the staff are friendly and the facilities are good. In a nice location and food and drink was reasonably priced. We booked a lodge for 5 but in arriving found it not as described it was smelly had mould and cobwebs everywhere moved straight to the hotel which you would think was run by a different organisation. 2 of our party booked elsewhere. Only for the state of the lodge it would have been a good break

We loved the gym and pool and spa facilities. The room was excellent to. Very clean quiet and comfortable with free parking. We ate at the local pub Diggers Rest- excellent- Hungarian chef who made delicious food. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Liked the design of hotel- you could access all the facilities without having to go outside- useful if weather bad.

We liked our room and enjoyed the spa, we didn’t eat in the restaurant so I can not comment, if there was one thing that could have been better, may be a chill out area with relaxing chairs near to the pool to get juices : coffee : tea etc, but apart from that every thing is very nice.

The staff were helpful and the facilities were good. But the car park was poorly lit and the lodges walk ways could have done with a bit more light as you arrive. The area was stunning and the pool fantastic. Food was good so all in all was good and I would definitely return.

Breakfast was very good with a nice variety and the staff in the restaurant were very accomodating. The hotel was perfectly situated, not too far from the beach, close to hiking trails and other tourist attractions. Access to the pool and health club facilities was nice, we went for a swim after a very busy day. Nice shower, with a decent stream of hot water. Did not play golf on this occasion but admire the golf club.

Really enjoyed our stay. The property was well appointed, with lots of thoughtful little touches, and immaculately clean. Nice pub at the end of the road. Really quiet little village, and handy for visiting Exeter and the surrounding countryside. Thoroughly recommend.

The holiday home was a pleasant surprise and spacious for a holiday home. Staff were lovely and the food had great menu options and all dishes we chose were delicious. It was also great having access to the sister park which was very well setup for the kids too.
