We went to Canterbury to visit an animal park nearby. Due to mobility issues I was worried about driving there and back (to Brighton) in one day so we decided to make a little trip of it for my birthday.
My sister had arranged the room to be decorated, she lives in LA so this was a big surprise and the hotel staff did a great job, I've never had that experience so although it felt surreal it was also very special!
The bath was amazing for my muscles after the trip to the animal park, and we found a cat cafe not far from the hotel so managed to fit that in as well as a little wander.
The bed was so comfortable with really soft sheets, we were both actually quite sad to have to leave it behind!
The staff were all friendly, and breakfast was really good. I don't normally bother but due to the day trip I didn't want to be really hungry and there were sweet touches like mini jam jars and mini croissants (I'm a sucker for a miniature!)
Situated within the Roman city walls of historic Canterbury’s centre, this family-run hotel dates back to the 16th century. It offers free WiFi, and a cosy, oak-beamed bar.

A pretty little Kentish village surrounded by beautiful countryside. Not too many local facilities but a village convenience store, an Indian restaurant and a couple of good pubs was more than enough to keep us happy during our stay!
Very friendly owners. They even left a few provisions in the fridge in case I was unable to get some. Used the washing machine and dishwasher easily. Brilliant pub within walking distance - Haywain at Bramling - excellent food, beer and very sociable. Near to picturesque Wickhambreaux, Ickham and Wingham.
A lovely cottage absolutely full of character and period features! Comfortable beds and perfect location on Wingham high street! Lots of toys, travel cot and high chair for our little one which took a lot of the stress away!
The breakfast was excellent served by a very friendly waitress there wasn’t anything to dislike about the whole experience the Dog hotel is on our list to take visitors when we have them
