Step back in time & do it in style. Whimbrel Cottage is unique in every sense of the word. It is quirky & colourfully decorated & feels fresh in an antique setting. There is a 100 year-old wisteria in the garden in which you can sit and read in the shade. There are both indoor dining & outdoor dining facilities plus a coffee table & chairs in the garden. The cottage is located in a village with two pubs, three restaurants, a small supermarket, a newsagent, a bakery and a petrol station. Heaven !

Sue and I bought Whimbrel Cottage in 2020 and then spent 6 months carefully renovating it with the help of a team of builders in order to prepare for a new life as an airbnb. We are really pleased with the way it turned out. From being an unloved and poorly maintained antique home it is now something quite special. We have replaced whole floors, carpets, beams, joists, well pretty much everything. However, we were very careful to preserve its original features and character. We really hope that the guests who stay here in the future will love it as much as we do ourselves. Wingham is a small historic Kent village. It is 8 miles from Canterbury and 9 miles from the nearest sandy beach. Wingham is famous for its wildlife park situated just outside the village. It is really conveniently situated to easily access the string of bays and coastal towns from Whistable to Ramsgate. The cottage is set back from the high street in a quiet and peaceful setting and the village itself is beautifully maintained by volunteers creating one of Kent's most charming villages. Unusually for such a tiny village (population 1800) it is amazingly well served with pubs, restaurants, a petrol station and small shops. There is no controlled parking in Wingham. Guests can park in the high street outside the cottage or in the village car park which is free, located on the same side of the road and just 100 metres away. Buses stop near the cottage and run into Canterbury in one direction and Sandwich and Broadstairs in the other. The village is surrounded by accessible countryside for walking and the edge of the Kent Downs, an Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is located just 4 miles away.
