Very friendly, welcoming and helpful host. Tasty breakfasts, especially porridge. Good location for exploring the surrounding area. Experience of staying in an old house. Admiring all the artwork in the gallery.

We fell in love with the property, oldey worldy at its best. The staff were helpful and understanding, even setting up a separate room for us to have breakfast with our dog as he doesn’t like to be on his own.
This charming traditional coaching inn is a Grade II listed building and still retains many of its beautiful original features, such as exposed wooden beams.

We ate in the Orangery (a beautiful sunny room) rather than the restaurant, where our dog was allowed, Food and service were excellent. We were provided with dog towel, blanket and bowls (£15 per night for the dog) and parking was really close so it worked perfectly.
Whitchurch was a lovely village just off the main road.
Whitchurch was a lovely village just off the main road. It’s a great base to visit surroundings areas like Titern Abbey and Monmouth.
The village has a fine dining restaurant called The Potting Shed, also a general store with a lovely coffee shop called Woods of Whitchurch.
Within a ten minute walk there’s a hotel that serves food all day a butterfly zoo and a river Wye boat cruise. There’s a 20 minute country walk that takes you to the Ye old Ferrie Inn an enchanting place with great food and splendid views of the river Wye.
Whitchurch has a lot to offer slight road noise but it’s certainly shouldn’t put any visitors off.
We booked 2 rooms, 1 room had dirty mouldy silicone around shower, the shower was leaking over tray due to blocked drains.. the room was very dirty.. the owner said they had lost the key for my room so I was unable to lock door when going out of the hotel!
The other room was equally as dirty but this room had blood stains on the sheets. really was a unpleasant stay.
The bar and restaurant was closed!
I do alot of work in this area and I will never stay here again. Probably the worst hotel i have ever stayed in
wifi was good tho
Unfortunately breakfast is no longer provided , despite it being advertised. The rooms had been recently decorated and were clean. Tea bags, a jar of premium instant coffee and fresh milk and kettle was available which was a plus point.
The ground floor of the hotel housed a good curry restaurant and a good bar area. The shower in the bathroom was modern but was of the electric type, so it worked OK but not my ideal type of shower. The manager or owner was helpful and friendly.
Easy access to all local points of interest (Symonds Yat, Monmouth, Forest of Dean). A lovely room with beams, clean, well functioning bathroom and powerful shower. On top of in room tea and coffee, there is a little fridge where one can put their stuff and cereals for consumption. A nice little touch. Food, the restaurant aspect of the hotel is great. Excellent Tandoori cuisine with bottled beer available. Do give it a try, well worth it.
We spent two nights at The Crown hotel with 2 teenagers and one 7 years old. They really enjoyed the thick mattresses and TV with Netflix. The owner was really kind and helpful. We played pool in the evening and enjoyed the food at the indian restaurant downstairs. For breakfast we could use the milk, croissants, shortbreads, apple and orange juices, cereals from the fridge. Coffee, tea, kettle was in the room. Bedding and towels were clean.
We arrived to what looked like a derelict building, with smashed windows and very tatty building. We tried to go the main door to which there was no answer. Looked like lots of work going on and being turned into an Indian take away. Not somewhere I would ever stay. Needless to say we ran a mile! I have not yet been given a refund and am sure this will not happen!! DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL IT IS A SCAM!!!
Host was very welcoming and helpful. The room was great as were welcoming touches - lemon drizzle cake, (Yorkshire) tea, biscuits in room. Use of the fridge also very convenient. The location is excellent. Symonds Yat and the Wye close by - great if you're an angler during river season!! Breakfast from Woodies (Whitchurch) is fantastic. Close to lots of outdoor activity :)
Despite the hotel being very close to the busy road, you could not hear any road noise at all. The beds were fantastically comfortable. The welcome touches were lovely and we will definitely be back to stay again. Although no breakfast was provided, the small cafe across the road was fantastic and we would highly recommend a visit!
