It was fabulous, a home from home with lovely decorating and high end soft furnishings. A welcome homemade cake, a bowl of fresh fruit and fresh free range eggs were all much appreciated. Great communication at all times with the hosts. Many thanks, we’ll be back.

It's a good place to stay, but no longer than a couple of nights. It's quite busy during the day, but not much to do at night. The seafood is great, from sea to plate. You definitely need a car to travel around and see other places. The hotel is very clean, the staff are friendly. Would recommend.

We went to walk around the island and to see the sights.

We went to walk around the island and to see the sights. Coastal path is poorly maintained (and even broken and dangerous) in some parts. Very few footpaths or cycleways anywhere (none on the only access road to the island for example). On the plus side there are some great views across the Blackwater from West Mersea and out to the North Sea from the Eastern end of the island. There are also some great sandy beaches.
