Best Western Homestead Court Hotel, hotel in Tewin

Located around 5 minutes from national rail links at Welwyn Garden City Station, the Best Western Homestead Court Hotel is also near to the major business parks at Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield.

Not a great deal. Absolutely no ambience In dining room or other parts of the hotel. Staff were few & far between. Barman was more interested in the football on the television. We were actually the only people eating in the restaurant.

The self catering lodge was very clean and comfortable,...

The self catering lodge was very clean and comfortable, almost looked new but was made aware it had been there a few years. Hot tub was pre lit and prepared for use, the view was brilliant of the river, a brilliant find. Disliked · We stayed in the Riverside Lodge and this applies to just this lodge. This isn’t about what we didn’t like, we’re campers so make do. However, it was the very small things. As it’s self catering, there’s a 2 ring hob, but one pan, lucky there’s a microwave. Also, there’s loads of wall space, it would have been good to have one shelf along the kitchen wall to put some supplies or even put the toaster as there was very little worktop space, and why the massive kettle tray taking up space just a kettle would do. Also, we couldn’t fathom out how to work the bathroom extractor or it wasn’t working. But none of this marred the fantastic experience. Wish we’d have stayed longer actually. Also, this just applies to the Riverside Lodge, when you stay in a lodge with hot tub, you expect a bit of privacy, it would have been a bit more considered if there was a fence/hedge or something alongside the exposed terrace edge where the hot tub is so other guests can’t see you if they walk past. There is a path that can be used by other guests staying at the lake cabins whereby they can walk by your lodge and look in, perhaps it’s being planned for the future?

Stayed at Lakeside which has a ready to use hot tub which was amazing. Have stayed here before and already planning to come back later in the year. Excellent accommodation, everything you need, even had complimentary wine and beer. Maybe a few more hangers in the wardrobe as nowhere else to put clothes.

    Lovely spacious room with fridge.

Lovely spacious room with fridge. Choice of pillow was good as I prefer a soft pillow and my husband prefers a hard pillow. Most rooms are single storey which makes for a quieter night and morning. The out buildings and grounds were well kept. Flowers around the outside made the place attractive. We didn't have time to explore the grounds fully but what we saw we liked very much

A beautiful setting in fairly quiet grounds, a nice change to city hotels. While the actual grounds are stunning, the room was a decent size (stayed in lakeside). Only thing disappointing about the room was there was no toaster as stated on the description, and lots of bugs but I expect this with where it is and the type of room it is. Never stayed before, breakfast was included in the rate but wasn’t actually told where to go for this upon check in or if we needed to do anything. Slightly disappointing that the pre authorisation on a card is more than the actual stay itself. I appreciate the need to have to cover for incidentals and extra charges but nearly £800 was a bit excessive, given the rate for the stay was nearly £700 itself. Even though the lodge is fairly quiet, the walls are pretty thin so you can hear everything next door (talking, shutting doors, clanging cutlery) which isn’t always ideal when you want a quiet getaway. Would be nice to have some sort of order taking for house keeping, so you can just request certain items Via a card left on the door or something similar, as myself and partner were startled twice by this. Overall I would like to stay again, but realistically I wouldn’t say there is a value for money. I know you are paying a premium for the grounds and the privacy, however not sure it lives up to that price point. Wasn’t over keen on the fact if you opened up the gate to the lodge, next door either side could essentially walk straight up to the doors to our hot tub, and to our lodge just by opening a gate or walking the back path around the lodge. Reception was a little lack lustre considering I have never stayed here before. Maybe something for a special occasion but won’t be my first choice in future.

Dont book the Shepherds Hut - the accommodation was well below the standard stated. Take a full length mirror if you want to see yourself or wash your hair the one in the bathroom is 12inch square propped on a very wobbly shelf.
