It is a nice little town with a good variety of interesting shops and a town full of character Plenty of parking nearby.
We didn't eat in any of the restaurants as we stayed with family, but we had an Indian take away which was lovely.

Lovely, characterful coaching town.
Lovely, characterful coaching town. Lots of life still, free parking, lots of shops and pubs/hostels. Great base for exploring Bucks. Would recommend Bletchley Park - so much more to it than we thought.

The town is very quaint with a lot of bars and restaurants to enjoy. There is a lovely park area with a walk along the river with beautiful scenery. An added attraction is that all car parking is free, ad just behind the main street so not far to walk.
There are some lovely gift shops and quaint kitchen shops along the high street as well for individual items you don't often see.

We chose to stay at The Cock Hotel in Stoney Stratford partly because it was near to Bletchley Park where we were visiting, and also because of the famous 'cock and bull story'; sadly The Bull is now closed so we couldn't make a comparison or indulge in making up a story!! Set on the famous Watling Street, Stoney Stratford was a strategic 'stopping off' point for travellers through the ages yet has still managed to retain its old world charm.
There are numerous free car parks and it is easily accessible on foot, so visitors will delight in stopping by the abundance of unique independent shops as well as the Saturday market and the once a month Farmers' market. There is a plentiful number of cafes, tea rooms and pubs too where you can quench your thirst and/or assuage your hunger or you could just stroll along the riverside and take in the views.

Stony Stratford is a lovely, interesting market town with a great atmosphere, some original shops and lively pubs on both sides of the narrow main street. It has some great old original coaching Inns such as The Cock Hotel, The Bull Hotel and The Old George, all on the main street, with parking behind them. It is conveniently close to Milton Keynes shopping centre. The town comes alive at the weekends, and live music is sometimes played in The Vaults bar. There is an annual winter Lantern Parade, for which the locals make paper lanterns of all descriptions and hang them on sticks, then parade through the streets with them lit up. In the summer an annual folk fair is (usually) held on the main green just off the main road (Folk on the Green), and many local musicians play and sing. Stony generally has a very musical and artistic vibe.

Very friendly welcome from bar staff, I was even showed to my room, which was tastefully decorated. Nice atmosphere in the bar where I felt completely at ease on my own. My room was a decent size, bed was really comfortable, good furniture and an excellent shower room. I had a good night's sleep and a very tasty breakfast. I will certainly stay again when back on business.
The room was spacious and well decorated. There was s hairdryer, an iron and ironing board in the room. I was with my 91 year old mother who found the facilities very easy to use. Although there were parties, weddings on while we were there you could not here anything in the room. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Staff were friendly, bed very comfy but room overlooked the pub courtyard so was a bit noisy - wouldn't want to stay there on a Friday or Saturday night! Walls were pretty thin so I could hear the guy in the room next to me and his telly which was a bit annoying. Breakfast was good too.
Easy to find hotel. Desk staffed at all times. It has a reasonable looking breakfast room. The rooms were quiet and overall it felt safe. Overall the hotel met our expectations and we were happy with level of service comfort and price.
It had a good old school feel about it, very friendly helpful staff, very clean rooms, comfortable bed, for a 15th century hotel it was very warming and welcoming.
