Arrived slightly early (20 mins) but room still not ready, waited a further half hour and were told we would have upgrade to larger room however reception experience not great. Room was clean and well appointed with a very comfortable bed. Evening meal poor, menu incorrectly typed leading to confusion and food overcooked and tasteless. Breakfast buffet very tired looking, bacon inedible, mushrooms tough and fried egg solid as opposed to runny. Overall impression hotel being run on a shoestring with young inexperienced staff and no evident management guidance.

We used this location as it is close to a railway station into Oxford. Parking at the station appeared to be free as we could not find a pay machine.
We also used the Oxford park and ride - it was excellent and very reasonably priced.
I also played golf at Kirtlington (about 10 miles away). Great course and a very friendly club.

book evening meal before your stay.
book evening meal before your stay. We were not able to because of staff shortages so therefore had to travel for evening meal. We would have had it at the hotel if possible as the standard of food for breakfast was great!

The hotel grounds, most facilities, and location were all good - the reason for selecting along with the price. Reservations made via Booking.com, with payment on arrival - for room and breakfast. However, it soon went wrong because breakfast seating (party of 6) was a problem - we were given excuses about too many guests and too few staff - even though they took our money as soon as we arrived. The first two days were embarrassing mainly because of staff attitude (not everyone, thankfully!).

The hotel is not in the village, but on a crossroads about half a mile away. The village did not seem to have much to recommend it. The pub was shut when we walked over, but that is not the point, the hotel is in a central area with lots of places to visit around.
What was lovely was that we were upgraded, so that was a lovely surprise. And the room was great. Also, we hadn't planned on eating at the hotel in the evening because we knew we would be late back. However, even though we were late back we just went and asked if there was any chance of having a meal, even though it was only 10 minutes before they stopped serving and they said yes, which we were very grateful for.
Very quaint, beautiful hotel and outdoors. Rooms were very spacious and very clean. We enjoyed a lovely meal at the restaurant and Will was particularly friendly and helpful. The bar and seating area was very comfortable. We asked for a ground floor for an elderly relatives which was arranged as requested.
We booked fairly short notice for a good price.
Great location for Oxford and The Cotswolds.
Very nice hotel with excellent staff and service provided could not do enough to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Breakfast buffet was fantastic and plentiful and even did a plate of sausage for my dog! Would definitely stay again.
Comfortable bedroom with all you need for a one night stay. Bar and restaurant staff very friendly, and the evening meal was excellent. Great alternative to a chain hotel if travelling up the A34, across M40 and need somewhere to stay.
I stay here quite often, We always find the Hotel comfortable and the room clean, We particularly enjoy the breakfast at the Holt and the staff are always welcoming and friendly
Great hotel fpr what you pay. We only spent the night and then enjoy toad trips and food out in different places in costowolds so for that purpose, it was perfect.
Breakfast was excellent. Hotel was very nice, facilities excellent. Staff were very pleasant. I will Definately use this hotel again when visiting the area.
