Windermere Hotel, hotel in Staveley

Perched on a hill overlooking Windermere town centre is the Windermere Hotel. Built in 1847 the hotel offers rooms with en suite bathrooms, and a restaurant.

Hotel was in a great location for walking into Windermere ( downhill about 45 minutes). Across the road from the train station and buses stop regularly outside. The hotel staff were all really pleasant and seemed happy to be there, always giving a warm welcome. Brilliant hot, full breakfast available with cereal and pastries. Chef always visibly coming in and out of kitchen, with all clean aprons.

Nice little village about half way between Kendal and Windermere. By car it is only 10 mins to Windermere and 20 mins to Ambleside. Giving you easy access to the Lake District National Park. The village itself has a Fish and Chip Shop and a couple of nice Pubs. While we were there we had a lovely meal at the Eagle and Child Pub which also has a lovely riverside Beer Garden.

A lovely quiet village set in rolling hills that is not really on the main tourist trek but is easily reached. There is an excellent regular bus service through the village to all the main tourist destinations too. Plenty of walks from the village into the fells.
