Wonderful friendly host who provided an extra single bed so me and my father didn't have to share the double.

Quirky small hotel with boutique feel. Nice bar and breakfast areas, lots of art and pictures everywhere. Clean and warm, nice breakfast, very friendly and welcoming staff. Value for money. Very modern bathroom. Nice view out to the sea and coast from window in our room. It is an old building so have to expect some original features such as high ceilings and uneven floors but that adds to the quirky atmosphere. We paid for parking and glad we did as made it really convenient as street parking more challenging depending on time of day. Would stay again.

What a lovely find. The Globe was both picturesque and welcoming.
Discovered this gem while looking for a pit-stop on our travels.
We were initially drawn to the traditional pub style of the restaurant, but wow! You couldn't ask for a friendlier team.
Fantastic food, excellent service and selection of drinks at the bar. Beautifully quaint building a short walk from the harbour.
Our room on the balcony was clean and incredibly comfortable - even equipped with a nespresso machine of our own! Facilities are kept well.
We both had dinner and breakfast with The Globe, very satisfactory and excellent choices for a range of dietary requirements. Alcohol free options available, and a dog-friendly environment to boot.
Great value for a much recommended visit.
Will absolutely be keeping this name in mind for future trips.

Because we arrived on Sunday and left on Monday, it was all self check in and no breakfast, which was a bit disappointing. We would have stayed at the Globe if we were made aware at the time of booking. The rooms and place itself was lovely.
Warm hospitality, good cuisine and excellent golf, leisure, spa and events facilities are on offer at Woodbury Park. Free parking and free WiFi is provided.

The accomodation is sited at the top of a sloping field with great views over the River Exe to Exmouth. The host (Tricia) provides an electric buggy (Daisy) for residents to use to move up and down the field as required - great fun. There was a bowl of fresh eggs courtesy of the resident chickens, a jar of yummy chocolate biscuits, individual plates of scones, muffin, biscuit, portions of butter and jam awaiting our arrival, with a pot of cream and a bottle of milk in the fridge - delicious and much appreciated start to the holiday. Washing liquid, plenty towels and condiments all provided. The hot tub is a large double ended oval shape and this was ready to use immediately - perfect end to our evenings. Tricia is the loveliest, friendly lady and easy to chat to when around. If I'm ever down in that area again I will definitely stay at Violet May's retreat, wish we could have stayed longer.

Starcross is a small village and suffers from being on the A379 which can be quite congested in peak season and with commuters especially at the pick point next to the former Courtney Arms.
It has excellent links via public transport and is situated on the edge of an area rich in wildlife including world renowned migratory bird sanctuary.

So much to do and explore locally - excellent cycling routes, family activities and traditional pubs with easy train/ferry access to Exeter and other coastal towns. Probably more suitable for mature/families/couples than youngsters looking for a wild club scene, but a rich selection of things to do for all ages in the vicinity.
