Swallows Retreat: A Country Loft Apartment, hotel in Spurstow

Offering a garden and garden view, Swallows Retreat: A Country Loft Apartment is located in Hargrave, 16 km from Chester Zoo and 43 km from M&S Bank Arena Liverpool.

Swallows Retreat is a beautiful property, in a great location and everything about our experience was perfect. Sarah’s communications were timely and useful (eg, last part of the journey directions and locating hints) When we arrived, we found the property spotlessly clean, well equipped, beautifully furnished (comfy sofa and bed!) light and airy. We had everything we needed to cook a light dinner and with the blinds and door curtain shut, the space became cosy for the evening. Also, the shower was roomy, decent power and lovely big towels. There is a nice, sheltered outside seating area too.

If it is privacy and relaxation you want, then this is perfect for you. You are left in private as everything you need is in your comfortable room. There is a kitchenette with everything you need, stools and a breakfast bar for dining. Food is left in the fridge for your breakfast- delicious fresh eggs, cheese, salami, butter, milk, butter and orange juice. Bread, tea and coffee also available. There are some comfortable arm chairs and a king size sleigh bed for a good night's sleep. The bathroom has a decent shower and heated towel rail. Linens and towels are of good quality. There are three good dining pubs near the property- The Nag's Head, The Yew Tree and the Dysart Arms. The food and service are good in all three. Chester is in easy reach for sightseeing. Spurstow is a very small village but Tarporley is about five miles away and has a range of amenities.

Spurstow nice area, accommodation was ridiculously over priced for a room above a stable. Breakfast was a diy disaster. For the same price could have stayed in a proper hotel with real facilities and a cooked breakfast and decent facilities. A hotel wouldn’t have had such an insensitive employee as the hostess. I tried to cancel the return visit but it was refused by hostess. I felt very awkward returning to such an unwelcoming place. Bad vibes bad value. A mile down the road there’s a proper breakfast place called Chestnut Farm thoroughly recommended. Second picture is my breakfast from Chestnut Farm. Other picture is Pear Tree farm joke diy unbreakfast.
