Hotel was in a great location for walking into Windermere ( downhill about 45 minutes). Across the road from the train station and buses stop regularly outside.
The hotel staff were all really pleasant and seemed happy to be there, always giving a warm welcome.
Brilliant hot, full breakfast available with cereal and pastries. Chef always visibly coming in and out of kitchen, with all clean aprons.
Overlooking Lake Windermere and the Langdale Pikes, the Craig Manor is 5 minute walk from Bowness. The rooms have modern decor, en suite bathrooms, and flat-screen TVs with satellite channels.

Our second visit and it didn’t disappoint. The location in the centre of town was great. A spacious room with a really comfortable bed. We only ate breakfast there but it was fabulous probably the best hotel breakfast we have had. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful.

Every thing was great, from the breakfast to the room and staff, we enjoyed every minute. Extremely lovely location, just fabulous to have drinks by the lake. We will definitely be coming back.

Cabin 3 at Rydal is not a 4 star Hotel but an off grid cabin in the Hills, its a fairly strenuous walk from the car park and has no electric or running water but it is in our opinion PERFECT!!! Don't book it if you like all the creature comforts but book it if you like getting back to nature. Absolutely Awesome place. The toilets/showers are always clean and tidy,if you have a low/wide sporty car you will hate the entrance road as it is very rough, the view from Cabin 3 is also Beautiful, a really relaxing place. Roll on next year!!

The room we booked, a superior double' and a single were not the ones we were given and when we complained we were told they were all the same. There was no ''mountain view'' that we were promised, in fact you could only see out of the window if you stood on a chair. The bathroom was minute and you could hardly turn round in it. The bed and duvet etc were nowhere near as good as the photos on website. We were completely mis sold these rooms. The breakfast was just ok but the hot food and drinks were tepid at best, the croissants were hard, The hotel closes down at 9pm and you need a password to get in and the bar was self service after 9pm. No tv in rooms and if you go into the lounge to watch you are warned to turn sound down to cater to those who read in there. We feel that potential customers should be aware of these restrictions.

The views and walks we’re amazed, downside to the property is solar lighting, we had no lights for a day as battery’s needed changing, would be better if you could drive upto cabin 3 as the Treck up the hill was horrible, also would benefit from some sort of lighting leading up to cabins. No electricity

Kind of disappointed as the hut was smaller than expected, feel like it should of stated about solar power and give instructions about usage. Lights constantly going out was a bit poor. A non communicative owner who didn’t respond to emails unless money was involved. A shame really; wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Very pricy and completely not worth the money we paid

The whole friendliness and ambiance of the place exceeded expectations. The building and formal gardens are exquisite. The buffet format for the meals is deceptive as the quality of the food is excellent (both hot and cold), the selection is wonderful. The grounds have numerous points of interest. It is located a few miles West of Ambleside and a world away from crowded locations. If I ever return to the Lake District there is only one place I would like to stay. I have video clips of the place but nowhere to add them?

Overnight stop. Location and gardens good.
Overnight stop. Location and gardens good. Staff were friendly. Hotel very tired, room musty and smelt. Poor security on windows. No TV. Common areas unappealing. Breakfast on shared tables with food selection limited and not very hot. Car parking a bit of a bun fight. Very disappointed.
