I liked the friendly people in Richmond. The shops, restaurants, and pubs were all great, and very reasonably priced. The portions in the restaurant were huge everywhere we visited. We used the local gym and spa on a day pass and the facilities were very good for the money we paid. The public transport was easy to use and cheap. The taxis were plentiful, the drivers were friendly and it was very easy to get a taxi.

We have family at Catterick and Richmond is only a few minutes drive from there. We like the Station complex with the shops & cinema, the centre of Richmond around the market place. I recommend the Green Howards museum and the Georgian theatre has a great 1 hour tour for just £8. There is the castle to visit and a nice walk around the castle to try. There are plenty of shops, little cafes, an indoor market, lots of pubs and a variety of take-aways. The market pace is cobbled and some streets away from the centre and very steep and can be hard walking for elderly.

Loved the dramatic landscape of the castle and the river valley around the town. The centre is up a slight hill but parking available in the central market square and down by the river. Some public footpaths available to walk in the countryside around the town. The town gives perhaps a good mornings wandering but with a car you can easily access the beautiful dales.

Great market town, the Saturday market held in the cobbled square was in full swing and very well attended.
Richmond is convenient for the stunning North Yorkshire Dales.
Has its own ruined castle and the beautiful river Swale runs through Richmond, lots of independent shops and the most fabulous fish and chips are to be had from the shop in the middle of the square …they are cooked in dripping and were delicious.
Lovely town to visit

Richmond is a beautiful little town , with many lovely walks , a fine Norman castle and the river Swale running through it with the Foss Water fall and riverside a nice place to picnic in spring and summer time. Richmond has many nice shops , restaurants and welcoming public houses. It’s sits at the entrance to the Yorkshire Dales with many interesting sights to visit not too far away.
Staying @ Low Gingerfield Farm has changed my perception on B/B...especially with covid it was so good not to be with a lot of people as our usual stay in hotels would have been. Everything about the farm was delightful and felt more like we had a cottage than a room. Which was very spacious. Being able to sit out in the gardens was just lovely taking in the fabulous views. Gill, the owner could not do enough for you. Breakfast was great and the afternoon tea was just delicious! A must to stay if you are in the Richmond area.
I have stayed here before so I was a returning customer. The staff are super friendly, I love the pub and the location is perfect for me and my plans whilst in Richmond. It was extra handy that I managed to grab a parking space making life a lot easier. The Hotel is bang in the middle of Richmond and makes it perfect for all of the attractions Richmond has to offer. Breakfast is included and was more than adequate, pretty much everything you could want unless you're super fussy
The room was spotless and had great character. Had a deluxe room on the lower floor called the turner room. Turner the painter was rumoured to have stayed in this hotel. The room was spacious with copies of turners artwork of Yorkshire.Enjoyed our stay with a relaxed atmosphere. The bed was so comfortable and large. The room was kept at a good temperature throughout our stay. Breakfast had a good selection of local produce and a variety of choices.
We had a fantastic holiday at this splendid B&B! Ample and delicious breakfast (vegetarian was no problem!), spacious and clean room, coffee and tea facilities in the room, fantastic hosts who made you feel at home immediately at arrival with tea and homemade cake, and... an unforgettable view!!! Ellerton Lodge was for us the perfect base to visit the whole area of the Yorkshire Dales, during our 8-night stay. Can't be improved!
Location was very convenient for exploring Richmond on foot. Nice outlook onto small Georgian Square. Parking using disk system worked well for us in October. Great welcome. Large clean and comfortable room. Nice touches like biscuits and jar of sweeties and tasteful decor in accommodation. The proprietor had only been running the hotel for 8 weeks. She has done a lovely job with the rooms. Great value for money.
The cottage is perfectly located for exploring Richmond on foot. It's a great gateway to driving out into the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The cottage is cosy and had all the amenities we required. It was nice to keep warm during the cold and damp nights. There was plenty of room and storage in the bedrooms. Water pressure was great. The beds were comfy and clean. It was a pleasure to wake up here.
Fantastic place to stay in Richmond, a little pricier than alternatives in the area, but room was spotless, spacious and well equipped as well as comfortable bed. Breakfast was amazing, the hosts really look after you and the choice of hot and cold food (including fresh omelettes) was really really good. Parking wasn't too expensive and was right outside the property
Excellent tasty breakfast, well prepared and locally resourced, including home-made jams etc. A very welcoming and friendly greeting by the proprietor, with plenty of useful information about the local area. A fantastic Yorkshire location, with beautiful views. It ticked all the boxes for us. Would highly recommend this B and B for both its charm and comfort.
Wonderful place for a break. The flat is well equipped, warm and comfy. It also has a nice big TV and fast wifi! We wouldn't hesitate to come here again. It is also right in the middle of Richmond, which is one of the most beautiful small towns in England. And even though it's central we found it to be a really quiet spot.
Had a lovely break at the Old Milk House. Beautiful house, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Location was great, in a quiet village setting and a good base to explore Yorkshire dales..Russel was the perfect host, very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend.
The Mews was comfortable, clean with above average facilities available for our party. The keys were easy to collect and the host made us most welcome. It is sited in an ideal situation for visiting Richmond and the parking with discs did not pose any inconvenience as we were visiting other places too.
The locationn was absolutly perfect ,in the main square in Richmond. We stayed two nights and were able to explore Richmond at our leisure . The room was fabulous, with a very spaceous ensuite with bath tub and shower. We could not ask for better. The staff were fantastic and the food was delicious
great location for exploring the town of Richmond, Yorkshire. Within walking distance of numerous restaurants and bars.
Great breakfast, with choice of main courses and cold buffet too.
Comfortable room with tea and coffee
Staff very helpful and pleasant
It is a characterful hotel right in the heart of Richmond. It's been recently re-furbished to a high standard and the staff were all pleasant and helpful The breakfast was superb and we will definitely be returning.
Great location next to Richmond's castle. It was a nice treat to be greeted with wine/beer upon our arrival. Amazing breakfast. Enjoyed the bathtub. The bed was firm and comfortable. The room was quiet.
A little touch of luxury in a picturesque Yorkshire village. The owners have transformed what was once a tiny village farmers’ local into a 5 star hotel.
