We actually spent most of our time outside Rhymney, so didn't form a detailed impression of it. It is easy enough to get to and from when visiting other sites in the Brecon Beacons. We were pleased to find a takeaway and a petrol station

I did not really stay in Rhymney.

I did not really stay in Rhymney. I had to walk from the railway station to the hotel in Princetown. The views of the countryside were interesting, although it was drizzling on the arrival day. I got some rambling done, in the nearby industrial estate, a nature reserve and in Tredegar. It's a lovely area. Worth visiting. The buses run on Saturdays and weekdays, if you do not drive. I did not have enough time to go rambling thoroughly in the nearby hills . Luckily, I will be moving to the area.

Rhymney was very quiet and peaceful on our visit.

Rhymney was very quiet and peaceful on our visit. We came to see the trains at the station. Taxi company I rang was excellent. Star Cabs very reliable turned up as and when requested. Highly recommended. The Lord Nelson Hotel highly recommended only an hour on the train from Cardiff. Christine and her staff looked after us and catered to all our needs. Superb customer service and excellent hosts.

the surrounding area was interesting quiet but not as relaxing or as attractive as I am used to. Rhymney itself is run down. It is however really convenient for visiting other places and for the parc if you like biking and walking.

It was very clean even for my clean obsessive wife and room was in very good condition with hair dryer. Lovely breakfast. Hotel ideal for having a place where to sleep and visiting the Brecon Beacon. Staff was very friendly. Pub is visited by local people which make pleasant. Room was cleaned every day with clean towels provided. Overall it was excellent bearing in mind that it is not a luxury accommodation or hotel.

Fortunately I eat pretty much anything as I wasn't actually asked what I'd like for the cooked breakfast, and was served the full English, which was absolutely superb however so not a problem, Bacon was cooked exactly how I like it and clearly decent local produce/ingredients used which was great The room was roomy and comfortable and the power-shower was the best hotel shower I've had in a long time

Convenient location, which although tucked away amidst housing was actually easy to find. The staff were welcoming on arrival and parking was available directly outside. The room itself was spacious, clean and the bed surprisingly comfortable (much better than the expected much too soft beds many hotel seem to use). Great shower and very clean throughout.
