The breakfast was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable and it was nice to have coffee and tea available in the room. Our dinners were great and the mac and cheese is a must have. Skerrols House, hotel in Port Charlotte

Within 15 minutes’ drive of 4 of the Isle of Islay’s whiskey distilleries, Skerrols House has uninterrupted countryside views and is just a 5-minute drive from the coastal village of Bridgend.

This was the absolute best placed we stayed on our entire trip. And now one of my favorites ever. Thomas was amazing at communicating, making you feel welcomes, cooked an amazing breakfast and responded to our every request. Then there are the beautiful and impeccably kept accommodations. Stay here once and you'll want to return to Islay just to stay here again. And be sure to visit the Islay Woolen Mill nearby, a true classic. If I could give this more than a 10 rating, I would.

Breakfast was really great, welcome was also great. Overall, really nice. Beds were super comfortable. Location great, but would advise to guarantee an evening meal, as it's quite a treck to the nearest town. Common areas encourage mingling with fellow guests in a relaxing manner.

Lochindaal Hotel, hotel in Port Charlotte

Everything was fantastic, it honestly could not have been better. The room was great, the bed comfortable, the bathroom updated. We spent plenty of time in the bar and lounge chatting with the proprietors, and the breakfast in the morning hit the spot. Next time on Islay, I will be coordinating my stay so I can stay here again! Wouldn't stay anywhere else.

When we arrived, we were lucky enough to meet Pi, and she gave us excellent recommendations for the island (ate lunch at Ardbeg and it was incredible as she said it would be). She was so sweet and helpful. We loved the view! It's in a beautiful area, right on the ocean. We loved that there was plenty of space, and that the house was charming. Had everything we needed to cook meals. We were also happy to have Netflix to watch shows at night. And we were thrilled to have a washer and dryer so we could clean our clothes.

The staff were outstanding, so friendly and nothing seemed to be an issue for them. Rarely have I ever stayed somewhere that compares with the genuine warmth and kindness. My bedroom was a little disappointing as it was very small and would have been near impossible if I was sharing. It needs an upgrade, as does the bathroom which was a bit below standard. The food and bar were excellent and can't really be faulted. If the bedrooms do get an upgrade, then this will be difficult to beat.

Beautiful well preserved Island village with peaceful shoreline and harbour in a good location for exploring nature preserves, clifftop vilages and unspoilt Atlantic beaches. Excellent community run campsite with excellent restaurant as long as you book for the evening. There is a popular sea food restaurant and hotel in addition to the one we stayed in. Suggest you plan your eating in advance as they tend to be fully booked at peak times. Visit the local distillery at Bruichladdie or the atlantic coast villages of port na haven or port wemyss.

There is a little museum/info/visitor centre. There is a post office, shop and petrol station. Attractive little village, residents very friendly , small beach and walk at the front . Light house close by.

A small quiet friendly village on the Island with a good restaurant plus a local hotel with bar also serving meals. A local spar shop catering for small items with the town of Bowmore a few miles away catering for larger needs. A very enjoyable place to spend some chill time with many interesting places to visit on the island not least the abundance of whisky distilleries.

Comfortable beds.Lovely well equipped Kitchen.Loads of books about local knowledge and a comfy chair to sit in to look! Good situation for touring the island, I had a car which I think would be essential, but I was only there for 3 days , not long enough! so maybe with a bit more time you could manage with public transport and walking.BUT you wouldnt get to the more isolated spots. I loved Portnahaven but the Island is full of gems and very unspoilt. Excellent birding at Loch Gruinart, from the hides.Museum in Port Charlotte well worth a visit just across the road from the hostel. Port Charlotte village has a couple of hostelries, they both do food and there was music one night. Also it is right beside Loch Indaal so lovely views across to Bowmore.
