Elfordleigh Hotel, hotel in Plympton

Nestled amid 100 acres of parkland, this traditional English country house is perfectly positioned for exploring both the timeless elegance of Devon and the bustling centre of Plymouth.

The spa is nice to relax in. It’s a shame that if you aren’t in a delux room you have to pay for bathrobes but the pool do provide towels for free. The reception stay were lovely and were always polite.

A lovely village on the edge of Dartmoor and Plymouth.

A lovely village on the edge of Dartmoor and Plymouth. Has a tesco express, Aldi, a couple of pubs and a few takeaways, we used Ridgeway pizza and Plympton fish bar, both were good meals for the price.

The hotel is in a nice rural location so make sure you have your own transport. The hotel leisure facilities are first rate so make sure you use them. We would have liked to use the spa but there were restrictive times due to the gym being refurbished. Bring your golf clubs because there is an excellent golf club on site. The food in the bar and the restaurant are very good which is very handy as you are out in the countryside. The rooms have been refurbished to a high standard and they are very spacious which makes a pleasant change

Not forthcoming or honest when cancellation requested.

Not forthcoming or honest when cancellation requested. Suggested because it was busy bank holiday they had turned away customers and would loose out if they refunded us when in actual fact they had four similar rooms available at 17.47 hours??

We enjoyed our visit and the location allowed us to visit the moors and Plymouth easily. There is a park and ride to Plymouth though we didn't use it. It wasn't school holiday time so we had no problem with parking.

The breakfast was delicious, as were the evening meals. Our room was beautiful, and had been recently refurbished. I liked the style, the curtains, carpet and furniture blended together well. The bed was cosy and comfortable. Our view over the parkland was stunning. The lounge was spacious and comfortable. The hotel pool was brilliant, as was the jacuzzi. The reception staff were exceptionally helpful and efficient.

To be fair there was nothing radically wrong with the Hotel. It is relatively spacious, set in lovely grounds with a golf course. I don't play golf but you didn't need to to enjoy the beautiful scenery. The location at Plympton is also ideal to be on the outskirts of Plymouth but close enough to go into the city for shopping etc.

The facilities are good, but feels more like a good standard leisure club (where you might have a regular membership) not really like other spa hotels I have been too. I would have been disappointed if I'd booked a spa day there.
