Great location, out of town but a short drive in (with lots of parking available in Epping) and close to the motorway. The atmosphere is very relaxed, with the continental breakfast available at any time.
Des was really helpful, telling us about the local area and events. He was very friendly and accommodating and really made our stay.

The house is very comfortable and well-equipped. The location is great, about a 10-minute walk from High Street. The host Martin is very attentive. I'll be back soon.

First they wouldn’t let us check in as we had no photo ID. I had to ask my son to drive to my house take a picture of my driving license and send if to me. No where on the booking did it ask for this before checking in. Secondly we wasn’t told they had maintenance work going on with the water. We checked in at 4 and was going out at 6 and still couldn’t get ready as we had no water to shower or flush the toilet. The reception said they had told us this but they hadn’t.

For walkers, the public footpaths are among the best signed and maintained that we have ever experienced in UK. Chipping Ongar itself is an attractive small town with an accessible Sainsburys and plenty of pubs and eateries. We had a delicious, good value lunch at the White Hart pub in nearby Moreton.

Lovely place to stay top mark's from me and this is in no way me putting the hotel down but we stayed in one of the court side rooms so had a separate bedroom which had no TV in just in the sitting room but sometimes it's nice to watch TV in bed or listen to the radio on the Freeview
Beautiful hotel inside and out. Lovely country house style furnishings gave the hotel a homely feel. Lovely, welcoming lady at reception. Very attractive communal areas such as library and bar with ample outside tables and chairs. The grounds were stunning, very natural with lots of wildlife. They welcome dogs too, plenty of walks including their own fields. Can not comment on food as were not doing any and breakfast was a take away bag but hopefully this will change soon. Ample parking.
The receptionist was exceptional, friendly, informative, helpful and just perfect service. Our room was exceptionally clean, fresh and very well designed with high quality finishes all around. We stayed with 2 dogs and the room was just perfect and exceeded expectations. We would stay again in a heart beat. The hotel and grounds are lovely and it is a real gem.
The staff were lovely and couldn't have been more helpful. Our room was spacious, very comfortable bed and good power shower. The hotel grounds and outdoor seating areas are fantastic. Lovely wedding location. Good stop off hotel for us on our way to Broadstairs for a holiday
The property and hotel were lovely. The room was nice, and everything was clean, and there were a few pleasant lounge areas. I wish I'd gotten to spend more than one night. The cooked breakfast was very good.
beautiful house, with substantial grounds. As it caters for pets too this was a perfect property to stay and close to Ongar itself. We stayed in the courtyard properties as we had a dog.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast, This hotel is clearly well geared up for functions. The grounds are beautiful and we could imagine ideal for lovely wedding photos.
The grounds of the hotel are lovely. Breakfast was very good. The staff were helpful and friendly. The room was newly decorated and spotlessly clean. The shower was excellent.
