We were allocated another hotel due to the Holiday Inn being refurbed, however the replacement was excellent, we stayed at the Hotel Ibis, Bridgewater, we had 1 twin & 1 double connecting rooms which were amazing. Loved the "industrial" feel and look of the decor. Breakfast was slow and had to wait for food to be replenished, however it was very good.
Just off junction 25 of the M5, this contemporary hotel combines good value, modern accommodation and friendly service with a convenient location for exploring Taunton and Somerset.

Nice comfortable bed and pillows . Quiet room with blackout curtains . Clean bathroom. Great self service breakfast with a large choice of food included in the price. Very friendly staff.

I've recently written a review for the hotel, so it seems unnecessary to go into it again, but I will add 2 things.
Housekeeping staff work really hard. The aircon is bloody useless and so noisy.
Set in Taunton, 36 km from Dunster Castle, The Great Western Hotel offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a bar.

Very nice breakfast. We were impressed by the fact that the hotel is linked to the YMCA in providing young people with training and opportunities for future career prospects.
The Old Vicarage Hotel & Restaurant is one of the oldest buildings in Bridgwater, with some parts dating back to the 14th century.

The shower was great.
The friendliness of the staff – I even got a guided tour to see some special rooms for guests.
The hotel was perfectly located in the town centre.

So would we recommend it - to anyone who is not looking for a normal 4/5* star hotel which could be anywhere in the world but something different and with character, yes we would, but be prepared to be adaptable and enjoy the experience. Would we go again? - probably not as we seldom if ever go back anywhere as there so many other places to explore. Did we enjoy ourselves? We sure did.
The Italian in North Newton., was very good especially as as arriving before 7 we were able to enjoy a 2-course meal for £14.95 which was excellent. The nearby Lock Inn was recommended but wasn't opening until a week later - shame - it was situated by a beautiful lock
