Swan Studios, hotel in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea

Swan Studios in Choppington features 3-star accommodation. Free WiFi and free parking are available. The rooms all feature seating areas with coffee tables, and en-suite facilities.

Probably the cleanest and tidiest place we have stayed. Thick comfy carpet, good heating, good tv placed centrally. Liked the fact you can park right outside your door too. Very quiet, never heard a neighbour (although not sure if there even was one). Good wi-fi, we plugged the laptop into the tv and watched netflix with no problems.

I love new biggin, I love the beach, the people and the speed of life… great sunrises, great food couldn’t have asked for more 😊 Ate at due fratelli Italian. Great food great service, also endeavour with splendid hot chocolate, the Front chippy with battered chips to die for and the Shaj which was very friendly and reasonably priced.

Whilst the town was a little tired it was the end of the season, so it was what we were expecting. There were plenty of eating places, our favourite being the Indian. with there only being a High Street every thing was easily accessible.

New Biggin, by the sea lovely beach not many places serving food in September a cafe and Italian were open and very good , a few shops for essentials , maritime museum worth a visit also the mining museum which isn't to far away , the place it's self needs a tidy lots of dog muck I was horrified does nobody pick it up , but I did notice no dog bins may be this would sort the problem out, also very few well maintained gardens, and litter dropped everywhere.shame to spoil a lovely place ,

We went over a bank holiday weekend and it wasn't too busy. Place is very clean and quiet. No amusements and not much in the way of entertainment but that suited us for a relaxing getaway. There were few places to eat out and we chose the chippy. Highly recommend the staff and food there. Seems to be a haven for dog lovers, never seen so many in one place. Not allowed on the beach though. Saw people swimming in the sea and paddle boarding but it wasn't crowded at all.

Lovely long promenade around the bay.

Lovely long promenade around the bay. Town has a number of cafes and take aways , but very little options for evening meals. A lovely location to use as a base to explore the southern part of the Northumberland coastline.

The beach is lovely as are the views from the church, where you can see dolphins . The low tide gives the opportunity to explore the sea bed, where we saw flat fish ,crabs and smaller fish. There are a few pubs to choose from with outside seating areas and a large co-op with a cash point machine There is a regular bus service to Newcastle and surrounding towns and villages. There is a local butchers, we had a bbq and the meat, sausages and burgers were very good quality. It is a level walk along the prom , with lots of little alley ways to the shops and buses. Newbiggin by the sea has a history of a fishing community and has its own smokehouse for kippers !

Newbiggin by the Sea is a very small town on the east coast of England just north of Newcastle upon Tyne. It was quiet and a great stopover between York and Edinburgh. it’s near Durban with a very nice cathedral that only asks for a donation to enter (unlike the ridiculously high entry fee in York). Just a really nice place to stay. Restaurant also had great choices.

Fantastic. On a par with 3 / 4 star hotels. Hosts very friendly and good knowledge about area. Good pointers for hostelries and food. Newbiggin is well placed to visit anywhere in Northumberland with most of the sights less than an hour away. Will definitely be coming back.
