There are lovely independent shops, the is only a coop and Tesco extra, so food quite basic, there are some lovely cafes for lunches,
It is on a hill so you have to be able to manage a small hill, the beach and walk along the beach front is flat, there are good ice cream stalls, I think it would be very busy in summer, we found a few fossils to take home, Monmouth beach is rocky but has some lovely fossils in large rocks to see and the amonite pavement

I have visited Lyme Regis since being a child so it’s very familiar to me.
When you arrive at the property what would make it even clearer is to say if you arrive from the Church End of Monmouth street when you get to the fork in the road park on the left fork unload your car then park as explained. We parked outside the property as told to by a local resident then got a torrent of abuse from a driver who wanted to get past which wasn’t a nice welcome. The lanes are very narrow and we had to stop and wait several times however everything in the property and local area was wonderful. We had a wonderful meal with the most stunning views at Mark Hixs restaurant and really enjoyed the new and old shops and we were blessed with wonderful weather

I was there two nights for a gig on the second night.
I was there two nights for a gig on the second night. I'd been through a couple of times previously and stopped briefly to visit the road end of the seafront, so this was the first proper stay. Unfortunately the weather was wet, windy and cold but I saw enough from just walking around to know that it would be a good (quaint) place to visit for longer and to take in some of the local attractions based around the fossils found in the area.

A lively, bustling quintessential British seaside resort.
A lively, bustling quintessential British seaside resort. Almost too busy on sunny summer days, but lively and fun for everyone. Lots of lovely scrummy places to eat, jolly pubs, many summer events, and the same jolly atmosphere at Christmas time too - lights, carols around the Christmas tree, etc ! But…..Prepare to pay a lot for parking! Or arrive by train to Axminster and catch the bus to the centre of Lyme from the station. Shop at Ammonite Fine Foods for holiday presents - (disclosure …my sister owns it !)

We have visited Lyme Regis many times.
We have visited Lyme Regis many times. We enjoy walking through the gardens and around the harbour. The town is quite steep and cobbled so not for infirm or elderly. We ate in our favourite pub The Royal Standard. They have a friendly atmosphere and pool table. Food is delicious there. Also Badger and Beach is friendly and makes lovely coffee.

If you are planning to visit Lyme Regis stay at St Andrews House B&B.
Excellent breakfast (cooked to order and good quality ingredients), room had a sea view, parking a real bonus, walk into Lyme Regis (bit of a steep hill on the way back). For guests’ use there is a swimming pool and garden to relax in, snooker table and shelves of books for guests to borrow while staying.
Had a fantastic stay here. The apartment is large, clean and modern and is in a great location only a few minutes' walk away from the centre of Lyme Regis. The facilities provided were excellent and little touches such as the tea/coffee/coffee machine etc were really appreciated. The host contacted us beforehand to arrange check-in which all went smoothly. Would recommend.
The Jolly Lodge is a wonderful stay in Lyme Regis, we really appreciated the personal touches from the host. The facilities were more than we expected and everything was up to a really high standard. Clean, warm, stylish, with a stunning view of the sea, and lovely natural surroundings. We wished we could have stayed longer!
We had a lovely break in Lyme Regis. Hosts were helpful, accomodation was very well appointed and clean. Lyme Regis poses a bit of a challenge for motorists so it was very good to have parking available as we were able to walk into town and could access both river and coastal paths. Would certainly recommend to others.

Everyone was so lovely! Perfect location! Literally around the corner from all the shops and the restaurants, right next to Lyme regis brewery, lovely short walk to the beach! Got lots of great tips for fossil hunting!
Homely, comfortable and well equipped apartment, a short walk from the centre of Lyme Regis. The hosts have thought of everything to make you feel at home, with flowers on the table and a welcome cream tea.
We fell in love, this comfortable, compact and nicely decorated renovated flat, very close to Lyme Regis beach front. Perfect location right opposite a church and minutes from all the bars & restaurants.
Nice hotel, we walked into the town, love Lyme Regis.
Nice breakfast, evening meal was good also.
