London has changed so much, the place and buildings are much the same but the whole excitement vibe has gone. Feels like another world and another city. London was always cosmopolitan but just doesn't feel like the capital of England at all now. However don't let my opinions put you off.

World -class museums; possibly unrivalled sense of history and tradition; cosmopolitan buzz; exciting modern architecture; range of theatres, opera and ballet; concert halls; international cuisine; magnificent parks and green spaces; good transport system. Favourite lesser- known places: Courthauld Museum for art lovers, and the magnificent Somerset House that houses it, complete with ice rink in the courtyard and the wonderful ‘Spring’ restaurant; Battersea Power Station and Coal Drop Yard for exciting modern developments; Chinatown for authentic Chinese food; river trips between the 2 Tates and down to Greenwich. Borough Market One could go on endlessly!

History is great, unfortunately place was overcrowded and overpriced. The London Cabbies are GREAT, so friendly and helpful. Souvenir shops ad nauseum ..... so many. Definitely targeted for the tourist with prices of everything excessive, especially the attractions, like paying 25 pounds per person to just go into a church ??? pity you just want to say a prayer. Better to go out of town. Public transport is expensive.

London has a lot of history and many things to see and do,...

London has a lot of history and many things to see and do, however, to do those things require a lot of walking and you must plan out your day-to-day. Cluster your points of interest by the area that you want to see and do. Their underground system is second to none in terms of efficiency and cost. Taking an Uber is not a big deal, but during daylight expect congestion and delays. We went in November and it wasn't ideal for us, cold, windy and famous for its London rain. We sucked it up and made the best of it. If you come from the states, London is famous for its diversity, and culture. In my opinion it does not stand up against NYC in some aspects. Gastronomically, NYC is far more diverse and it's restaurants, mom & pop joints and food trucks are far more enjoyable and edible than London and the price points are far less due to the FX. Maybe I'm biased being a former lifelong resident of NYC now in Florida. The many things to name a few, that London has over NYC are it's gazillion pubs and beer. excellent fish and chips and history that goes back to Roman times and still evolving.

The location is perfect for easy transportation into London or to Heathrow and Gatwick airports by all means of public transport. Having stayed many times by choice we love the intimacy of a smaller boutique hotel and the friendliness/helpfulness of all the staff from reception (front and office) to cleaners and Maintenance.Being very dog friendly is an exceptional bonus. We have stayed in all categories of room and the layout is very consistent.

Location was ideal, the staff were great, the shower was good (excellant water pressure), and the value for money was brilliant. Free luggage drop off was a plus too. Breakfast was included however wasn't utilised in my case. For roughly half the price of even the cheapest hotels in London, to see any of these amenities included was a welcome surprise.
