    I liked London.

I liked London. It is more orderly than other cities I have been to. I liked that I can just tap my credit card for train and bus rides. The Indian food we had for 3 days was great. And the choices of shows to watch was excellent. I have seen the museums before but the Van Gogh exhibit at the National Gallery was remarkable.

London is a stunning city with endless things to see and do—whether you're exploring historic landmarks, visiting world-class museums, or enjoying the vibrant cultural scene, there's always something to experience. The architecture, parks, and iconic sights like Big Ben and the Tower of London make it a truly special place. However, if you're Canadian, be prepared to dig deep into your pockets! With the exchange rate and the overall cost of living in London, things can get pricey fast. From food to transportation, the expenses do add up, so plan your budget accordingly.

We had high tea at the Dorchester hotel which was amazing - service was impeccable and the food was very high class. The tea and coffee were brilliant with even masala chai available. The walk through Kensington gardens and Hyde park to reach the Dorchester hotel was very pleasant. 2nd day we shopped on Kensington high street which was a good experience with lunch at Dishoom - first class- and ice cream at Amorini.

London is my favourite cities and I would recommend it to any book lovers - do not miss a play, explore a park and garden, look for less touristic and popular museums and do try a pie. I found Londoners very polite and helpful and the city, overall seemed safe. Also, if you have the opportunity, explore other areas around London - I loved Oxford and Canterbury.

Last minute booking as had missed my last train home, normally I stay away from Kings Cross as an area as so many hotels are of very poor quality, however couldn't be bothered heading back into central London so took a chance on this. The price was so cheap it almost put me off! But what a pleasant surprise, my room was a good size, it was spotlessly clean, the bed was comfortable and the wifi was perfect. Absolutely nothing to dislike about this place and would happily stay again. For the price you will not find anything better in London.

Finally a boutique affordable and nicely designed hotel in London that has style and taste and doesn’t look like an IKEA showroom or dusty hotel room like most others!! THANK YOU for bringing affordable style in a hotel- please continue to take over London with cute stylish hotels like this. It needs it! Second time staying and it’s my go-to place when you dont want to stay in a hotel that feels like a Travelodge or board room! Love it, and live the staff 🫶

I’ve been staying in cheap hotels part of the week for work since moving out of London about a year ago and have stayed in some ok places and some real dives (Not looking at you Forest Gate Hotel…) The Amhurst is easily the best of the lot so far. It was super clean, the owner was really friendly and it was generally cozy. Top marks. Bonus tip: ten minute walk away is a chip van that does the best fish and chips in London! This is a real no nonsense hotel it's quite outdated looking but being one of the cheapest hotels in London near a underground station it's nearly worth just living with it. When checking out you simply drop your key card in a mailbox at the desk and away you go.
