Ryde Castle by Greene King Inns, hotel in Lee-on-the-Solent

This majestic Victorian manor sits on Ryde seafront overlooking the marina. It features bright, elegant rooms with free Wi-Fi and hearty, traditional cuisine in its restaurant.

Very poor, only one staff member to do all the guests breakfast. We weren't asked if we wanted a cooked breakfast on any day, no coffee in the pots, no bread for toast . In our party of eight only one person was asked on the first day, on the second day he gave up after a forty minute wait. Upon leaving I mentioned this to the receptionist, she said we hadn't been charged anyway because nobody had been bothered to take our room numbers.

Traditional old hotel that I really liked. Its a little bit tired and fraying at the edges but aren't we all. Good location right in the middle of town, no problem parking. Was warm, comfortable, decent value for money, I have no complaints

Lots of places to visit close by.

Lots of places to visit close by. The Maritime Museum and Submarine Museum are excellent and an explorer ticket gives a years access to 4 museums and a harbour boat ride. I found an excellent tea room and a lovely baby clothes and toy shop in the town. I am a sea swimmer and there were several groups that welcomed me to swim with them. Roads were less busy than I was expecting.

Plenty of seats/benches along the seafront if you want to take in the lovely view across the solent. There are quieter spots away from the town area. Lovely children's play area, cafe and toilets by the town area.

I actually went back to Lee to remember my holidays as a child pre and post war. Lee is a find place to relax - not much to offer in terms of amusements but a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the sea front and scenery of the IOW. Good pubs and eateries near by.

We only stayed one night as we were attending a function but the area where the guest house was, was quiet and near to the beach area. Seemed to be popular with dog walkers in the morning. We didn’t actually go into the town so can’t comment on that. Travelled by car into Portsmouth to visit the Mary Rise exhibition.

Modern and tastefully decorated, big fluffy towels, bathrobes, decent wifi etc feeling more like staying in someone’s home than a hotel. Having a small fridge in the room is a great idea too that more places should take note of. The “emergency” box was also a nice touch when we discovered we’d left behind a hair brush and could take one from there. Great location a stone’s throw from the beach and within a five minute walk of local shops, and nice pubs and restaurants.
