Derwent Manor Boutique Hotel, hotel in Knitsley

Built in the style of a Manor House making it one of the most distinctive hotels in Northumberland.

Beautiful location, very specious room with huge bed, I had dinner in the restaurant, ordered cod and it was cooked to perfection. Plenty on choices for breakfast, if you dine for breakfast please ask for menu as I wasn’t given one till I nearly finished my breakfast only to find out there was option for smoked salmon.

Burnhopeside Hall, hotel in Knitsley

Set within 15 km of Beamish Museum and 25 km of MetroCentre in Lanchester, Burnhopeside Hall offers accommodation with seating area.

Overall a brilliant stay. Beautiful quiet spot. Grounds large scenic and well kept. House stone and 'historic country'. Enough safe parking. Room enormous, furnished in English Country Home style, but not cold. Light, but with effective curtains for once. Enough storage if a bit basic. Plenty of power points. Really large, comfy bed and pillows. Very large shower/bathroom with a strong shower and plenty of shelves, often a problem in B&Bs. Hostess so dignified and helpful. Unusual facilities available such as a full size snooker table. We didn't get to take the dogs to the river for a swim, but that's the sort of thing on offer. You do need to like dogs really, although if you don't I think the property would provide well for that.

The Old Post Office, Lanchester, hotel in Knitsley

Featuring barbecue facilities and views of garden, The Old Post Office, Lanchester is a bed and breakfast situated in a historic building in Lanchester, 11 km from Beamish Museum.

The Old Post Office is in a great location in Lanchester with various places to eat close by. The facilities are excellent with great attention to detail including bathrobes, fresh milk and homemade biscuits. The room was spotlessly clean and Keith a very welcoming host. Breakfast was ordered the night before at a time of our choice which meant everything was freshly cooked. Great local ingredients and the most delicious bacon!

The Ball Alley, hotel in Knitsley

Located in Stanley, in a historic building, 3.2 km from Beamish Museum, The Ball Alley is a bed and breakfast with a garden and bar.

We stayed for two nights and used for a base to visit Beamish and other surrounding Roman sites. The room was comfortable and all the staff and Landlady were very friendly. The pub itself is very welcoming and the locals were very friendly and the noise was barely audible upstairs even with the live music on the Saturday night (which was very good by the way). The breakfast was really good with cereal options and full English with toast. We went to a pub called the shepherd and shepherdess inn a short drive or 40 minute walk away for dinner. Food is excellent and reasonably priced. We would definitely stay again when we are in the area.

Station House, hotel in Knitsley

Set in Durham and only 11 km from Beamish Museum, Station House offers accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking.

What a lovely place to stay! The service was exceptional, the hostess was amazing, nothing was too much trouble! We were provided with fresh bread and milk on arrival, the kitchen was fully stocked with tea/coffee etc and even had an iPhone charger there (which was a god send as we had forgotten our own)!. We were given information about the area on arrival including good places to eat (the Italian restaurant round the corner was fabulous). We will definitely be back again, fabulous little place!
