The staff were attentive, very polite, informative but also very easy to talk to, brilliantly pleasant, helpful and made us feel so welcomed. Even though this is an old building it's full of character and the room was really spacious. This was also only a stones throw from the village of Hawes which had a great sweet shop, the Countryside museum and the Wensleydale Creamery, cracking bit of cheese! We will be back.

Hawes has a wonderful charm, beautifully kept homes and buildings and easy to get to local attractions.
At the end of the town is a very popular Fish and Chip restaurant where the portions are generous and you can actually see your order being cooked. There is also an eating place over the local Spar shop
great for families with basic good food.

went there for a specific event.
went there for a specific event. It's a small and isolated town amidst beautiful scenery. There are limited places to eat especially in the evening, several local pubs have closed or stopped doing food. In town there was one gastropub (good but pricey), one Indian restaurant (good and good value), and one trad cafe/diner which stayed open early evening otherwise its fish & chips or pizza takeaways. It's a long drive to the next nearest places doing evening food. During the day the Wensleydale Creamery offers good food and there is a decent bikers cafe on the main street.
Several nearby historic pubs well worth a visit, Green Dragon Hardraw 1.5 miles, Rose & Crown Bainbridge 4 miles, Tann Hill Inn 8 miles.

I wished I'd had more time to browse around, but we were attending an event so this had to give. Having stayed before, it's quiet despite being touristy, but it retains a charm which I hope it keeps.

A very pretty small town in the Yorkshire Dales.
A very pretty small town in the Yorkshire Dales. The scenery is beautiful and it was easy to find nice places to walk. We ate in a restaurant on the first night, in our accommodation on the second and in a chipper on the third.
It's very easy to walk around Hawes. There are a few hills but nothing serious. The stone houses are well kept with plenty of flowery gardens.
A lot of the walkers in the Dales were older, retired people so the walks are not too arduous. You can walk as much or as little as you like. The paths are well signposted. The countryside is green with rolling hills. Very unique.
Walking in the Dales is the main attraction. We met quite a number of friendly walkers with their dogs. The whole town is very dog friendly.
We also found a river not too far away with small waterfalls where there was a pool in which we could swim.

Hawes is a busy town in the dales.
Hawes is a busy town in the dales. Good spar shop for most things you need. Lots of pubs and a few cafes. The food in some of the pubs was expensive for what it was.
Quite expensive to park and 20p to use the public toilets.
This cottage is very quaint and cozy. It is well done out with great finishing touches. It is in a lovely setting ideally place just outside Hawes. We really enjoyed using the open fire and the host had left wood for us to burn. They had thoughtfully left us some local cheese and fruit cake.
The check in was simple as there is a key box on the door. It was great to have a parking space just outside.
We enjoyed a lot of walks and waterfalls around the area as well as exploring Hawes.
It is a place I would definitely stay again.
The hotel is centrally located. The staff was so wonderful and welcoming. James was very courteous and remembered us every time we walked into the bar. The room was nice and really clean. The breakfast was delicious and very filling - the traditional English breakfast was wonderful! The breakfast staff were wonderful!!! What exceptional hospitality. It was so nice to just walk downstairs to get a pint! We appreciated the tray to put our boots on after our hikes. And it's only a short walk to Wensleydale Creamery! :D
The hosts must love their job, you cannot fault their friendly professional approach. The room, though on the small side was great for our stay, we do travel quite a lot and this is the first place where a flask of fresh milk for your morning cuppa was outside your room by 7am.
The breakfast was first class; you leave your selection in the hall and it is ready and freshly cooked for you next day. Car parking nearby is a major problem, but so is it all over Hawes.
The Fountain Hotel.
It is a really great place to stay at a very reasonable price.
My photography friend and I wanted a one night stay in Hawes, the hotel/pub is ideally located in the village centre of Hawes.
The rooms were very clean, and the staff were friendly & very helpful.
And the full English breakfast was just superb and plentiful, and i couldn't fault it.
I would definitely stay here again, and i would give it 5 stars.
The location was great and from our window we could see down into Hawes and the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales. We were close to the town and able to walk in for our evening meal very happily. The YHA kindly provided great self-catering facilities as well as free tea and coffee which was VERY much appreciated! The communal areas were sweet and staff were helpful and friendly.
I was walking the Pennine Way and the location was right on the route. Central location in the small town of Hawes and would make a perfect base for exploring the surraounding Yorkshire Dales. Breakfast was very good and the hotel eating rota worked extremely well whilst covid restrictions were in place in May 2021
Very friendly and accommodating. Nothing too much trouble. The location is fantastic. It's on the Hawes to Sedbergh road but not too noisy. A good centre for some awesome walks. Food good too. I booked the budget room as the only one available but it was better than expected. Looking forward to going back.
Hawes is a lovely little town in a stunning area. The Board Inn has a great location in the centre of the town with some outside seating. Staff were very cheery and helpful. Attentive during meals.
A lovely spotlessly clean bed and breakfast. In a very good location of hawes.Alex and Angela were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very good. Would certainly recommend
Views amazing, location fantastic( can walk off road to Hawes). Decor was luxurious and plenty of onsite parking. Wonderful to have breakfast as late as 9.30am and it was delicious.
The staff were extremely helpful, polite and friendly due to the circumstances. The location is perfect. Right in the middle of Hawes. Parking outside accommodation.
Breakfast was fantastic.
Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and made our stay very welcoming.
The hotel is beautifully maintained and spotlessly clean.
It’s location right in the middle of Hawes, The rooms are clean and comfortable and excellent value for the price charged, especially with breakfast included
